And who is that Evans person - they acted like he was a big star (the guy with his sister) - have I actually seen him in a movie?

I did see the shot of Lady Gaga's white pants outfit - I just don't get this person at all.

They were all raving about Theron's red dress.  I felt it could have been cut lower, like maybe straight down to her crotch - wouldn't have been that much further.

I think we're in for a long, long slog and after hearing Mark Ruffalo, I think there will be much speechifying.

The hair is atrocious in the pictures I saw of Amy Pohler and Kate Winslet. Did like Alicia Vikander's dress.

Kerry Washington seemed to be auditioning for a superhero movie. (Her legs more than the breastplate might get her the part.)

I love the fashion notes. Will match them up in a bit with the photos. In the meantime, since I don't have TV, I'll be watching the beginning of Indian Summers, a BBC mini-series that I missed.

NYTimes.com covers the red carpet.

There I was offered  various samples.... A small bowl of imported Italian pasta with an imported Italian tomato sauce,  boarshead smoked ham, honey turkey, smoked Gouda, a chocolate donut made fresh in front of my eyes, maple flavored cracker thins....

They actually made a donut right there before your eyes?  How long did you have to wait for it?

It took about 3 minutes.. They were making mini donuts.

"Mama, Look Sharp" took no time ar all. "Cool, conservative Men" took me two and a half hours, but I'm all caught up with Joshie. It isn't a huge score, so there are only a few numbers to go.

I don't think I ever got all the way through that song without weeping

They are doing a different order this year from inception through making the film. At least I think that's what they said.  Starting with screenplay

The BBC must be reading HHW because I just received an email informing me that Pharrell Williams is sporting the "mankle" or "man-ankle" this evening. A UK fashion trend? A US fashion trend? Meh.

So I guess the acting awards will all be near the end of the show?

Opening monologue was dreadful and went on way past its expiry point.  And note to everyone connected with this show: Do you think black people are the only minority?  Answer that simple question and you'll know just how offensive that opening monologue was.

And what a brilliant move to not give the supporting awards at the top, thereby demolishing tradition.

Also brilliant to have asked all the nominees to put their thank yous in writing which are shown on a crawl - and then they thank everyone again.  Already these are the worse producers in Oscar history.

HATE the scrolling names.

Not one viewer in the world gives a flying Wally World about those names, except the people in the list.
