Interesting, if you google Gorban and "Pure Imagination"  it will say the song is from Willy Wonka.  I looked because I expected to find complaints regarding the error, yet didn't at first glance.

I mentioned awhile back we have a friend with metastasized cancer.  She can't really speak and I have to relay messages through a contact person.  For awhile there I didn't even know where my friend was.  The good news is, her daughter moved back from out of state, rented a house with her family, including my friend.

I don't exactly know what this means but I have been getting a lot of bra ad's in my e-mails.  I think I preferred the ads for ED that I used to get all the time.

:o Fortunately, I don't get either of those kinds of e-mails.

Possibly, but I don't believe he has an attic in which to hide that portrait!

DR George, I'm sorry the audition did not work out.

Thanks, Larry.  There will be a next time.

Mini-bitch...or mini-rant....whatever:

I saw that Josh Groban had a new album called "Stages" featuring great songs from musicals (both stage and film).  I like Groban and bought it.  This was a couple of months ago.

I opened it the other night and began listening.   Wow!  I have seldom been as disappointed as I was in this album.  Mundane pop versions of each song.  Very strange.  And Groban's voice seldom seems to be enjoying the "pop" delivery each one requires.

Hated it beyond measure.

Adding insult to injury:  "Pure Imagination" is not a pleasure to listen to.  And the album attributes it as a song by Leslie Bricusse from the film "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory."   This was NOT from the Johnny Depp film, thanks, but from "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" (and I could not find any reference indicating that "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" was an alternate title in English).

What on earth?

They attribute it ONLY to Bricusse?  I think Mr. Newley's folks might have something to say about that.

Don't recall precisely.  It may also have said Newley.

Groban has performed the song many times, and Google will turn up properly credited references in stories about many of his performances of the song.   The issue is the credit on the "Stages" CD liner notes.

I have heard some of those Groban recordings while shopping. I couldn't leave the store fast enough.

Jane, I think that, under the circumstances, that's very good news for your friend and her family.

Yes it is, under the circumstances.

I met this friend at the same time/day/moment I met Keith & former DR Penny.

I see a plate of potato pancakes in DR Elmore's near future...

Yes, it's true, I am a seer now.

Dear Cassandra Jones, I had the very same meal today at Artie's that I had there with my friend DR ChasSmith last Friday.  Does this indicate something severely unsettling with my psyche?

My friend looks great; he's lost some weight and it looks good on him.  We had a great visit with lots of laughs and intelligent conversation.  He brought some work for me, and I gave him a pile of work on a choral piece and a check for partial payment.

We then went to Artie's for a delightful lunch.

I need to call Joshie and see how things go for him.  He's on a cabaret act with a deadline for Thursday.

DR RLP - I couldn't believe how AWFUL that CD is.  There has to be a new classification of terrible.  Groban sounds like Mandy Patinkin at his worst and most self indulgent.  The track from PHANTOM features a girl who is SCREAMING her part of the song.....

The whole thing is a disgrace.  I think he had a PBS special doing songs from the CD, but I never watched it, and I hope it never comes on when I'm trying to watch something else.

Oh...it's Kelly Clarkson....an American Idol winner.....

Listen at your peril.

It was the little production of Threepenny Opera that was one of those life changers, to the extent that I was entranced by the fact that this guy was playing a baby grand piano set off to the side, just below the stage, and making that incredible music happen.  (I think it was my first time hearing it.)  I went back to it the next week and introduced myself and he put a chair next to the piano bench so I could sit there and watch the score and everything he was doing.  Yep, that little event, one of those life changers.

That's a great story, ChasSmith.

Tuesday afternoon greetings!

Where is our DR Ginny this morning?

This morning (and last evening) I was helping Fr. Richard get ready to host some clergy colleagues for a book study.  We cleaned and set up the living/dining room and set up morning refreshments.  I cleared out before they arrived to vote, do errands, and meet my friend Deborah for lunch and a nice long visit.  Got home about half an hour ago.

On my PC, there is an add-on for FIREFOX that will allow you to download YouTube videos.....it adds a DOWNLOAD tab to the YouTube videos.

My dvd player can play MP4 files, but sometimes I convert them to AVI before I burn them with CONVERTX....I downloaded the burner DR GEORGE linked last night and will give it a try.

Format Factory is a small tool that will convert a lot of files to other formats including photos, documents, videos, and music.  I have used it for years, it is free and no problems.

That's what's great about DVD Flick...no converting when you want to burn a playable DVD.

Had a quick and fun visit from Richard Sherman - he found an LA Christmas song he and his brother wrote in 1980 - not sure if it will work for the show at this point, but it's sweet.

My four cordless phones that I bought three or four years ago, haven't been holding the battery charge for longer than twenty minutes on the three handsets I mainly use, so I got new longer-lasting batteries for three of them (that's all they had in stock) and put them in the phone.  Kind of crazy that three chargeable batteries cost sixty bucks.

All the bank stuff is better - money is back in my account, and new debit card has arrived, and it's my plan not to use it at all, unless absolutely necessary - but my plan is also, for once, to check the account online at least twice a week.
