My region-free blu-ray DVD player is on its way out, I regret to say, and I need to purchase a new one.  I wish I were more tech-savvy since each offers different options. Advice?

Check on amazon. That's where I bought mine.

Watching a strange little teen comedy called Wet Hot American Summer. It's pretty funny. Got a huge cast with David Hyde-Pierce, Jeanne Garafalo, Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Banks, Bradley Cooper and so many others.

Has anyone read Fate and Furies by Lauren Groff? Supposedly one of the best novels of last year. I've started it and it's good, but it's definitely a little different.

We had a lovely spring walk at Fort Vancouver along Officer's Row.

That's a  very nice picture, Jane.

My battery is dying...

So for the first time ever, I'm considering getting a "smart" phone.  I got an e-mail from Verizon with some time-sensitive deals and one of the phones they're offering has what most smart phones don't, and that's a removeable battery.  Which means that if the battery dies, you don't have take or send in the whole phone just to get a new battery.  It also has 32 GB internal memory with an SD card slot that could handle up to 2TB!  My Samsung tablet (which is only a year and four months old) only has 16 GB internal, and can only support a 128 GB card.

A miracle of modern technology. :D

Started a concert film called The Roxy featuring Frank Zappa and the Mothers.

I don't really remember much Zappa from back in the day, but I had the soundtrack of 200 Motels then. I don't remember liking the music much because it was so "out there." Well, the stuff in The Roxy is fairly tame, kind of like blues and the progressive jazz of, say, Spyro Gyra mixed together. Some of it is actually a lot of fun.

I seem to recall Mr. Zappa was a big fan of Varese.
