Well, you've read the notes, the notes had a good run-through, and now it is time for you to post until the run-through cows come home.

Last night I fired up the old VCR and watched a video of Patrice Munsel's early TV appearances, mainly from "The Voice of Firestone.".  The Fledermaus Laughing Song was televised as early as 1952 or 1953, since the announcer made reference to her just playing the role at the Metropolitan Opera.

While I loved her singing, which was glorious, I found the musical staging for everything a lot of kitsch and silliness. Her Jaspanese drag for "Un bel di" from Madama Butterfly was so silly I couldn't watch.  Following that, she and Richard Tucker, both in evening clothes, sang the Butterfly finale to Act One, and it was just glorious. I'd like this broadcast a lot more if it were on CD and could only listen to her.

Tonight, I'll watch a movie from the late 1990s, Judas Kiss, with Emma Thompson, Alan Rickman, abd Gil Bellows. Whatever happened to him? I don't recall seeing him in ages.

By tomorrow night, I'm hoping the new DVD player is up and running.

As for Gil Bellows he has worked a lot since then. Mixing TV and movies appearances. None of the movies well known, but the TV work had a lot of popular series.

TOD: The many volumes of Stephen King's Dark Tower series may be the longest tale I've ever read. And by the time he finished, it may be one of the silliest.

TOD:

Play; ROSALINDA.  I think Cyril Ritchard was in it.  It was presented at the Los Angeles Music Center.  (Actually, we left during intermission.)
Movie: GONE WITH THE WIND or DR. ZHIVAGO (Which is longer?)
Book: I'm currently reading a biography of John Wayne, which is pretty long (over 500 pages)
