Well at long last, I may have convinced the PTB to put LAUGHING STOCK on our schedule for next summer......

They are also considering CURTAINS.....I ordered the CD, but the script hasn't been published, so it's a bit of a mystery of a mystery.....

I know some Dear Readers have seen it, so you might enlighten me with your opinions.

Which show is LAUGHING STOCK?

It may only be 7:30 am here , but I want spinach enchiladas. Or egg enchiladas, which are also great.

I'very not had those.  Years ago I made egg tacos.

You stuff the corn tortilla with scrambled eggs, roll it up like an enchilada, then top with ranchero sauce.

It had moments. I felt that they never really made the murder mystery work and I still don't think they knew what they were doing with the musical comedy within the show.  I had a good time, but I wish it were better.

Tomorrow will intentionally be a low-key birthday for me, as I'm not 100% sure whether it will be a tax-office day.

Just having some friends over in the evening.  Skip will make a cake, I'm sure.

It is after midnight here, so HAPPY BIRTHDAY, FJL!

Yay, I'll start celebrating early by having one of Skip's home-baked chocolate chip birthday cookies.

Happy early birthday. I'm sure the cookies are wonderful.

Kind of like using scrambled eggs instead of meat in tacos :)

I love taquito sand there is a restaurant near us that makes bean taquitos on request.  I forget to ask if they have the traditional green sauce for it since I've yet to see it.

Which show is LAUGHING STOCK?

That's the show I acted in last year for Olympia Little Theatre.  I played Craig Conlin who has an obsession about pencils and supplies.

When we began walking this morning, around 10:45, wearing shorts and a t-shirt we were a bit chilly.  Four hours later when we returned we were very warm and the day was perfect.

We didn't walk as fast as usual and made a few stops, including the farmer's market in town.  I think we walked about 8 or 9 miles.

We sampled a variety of butters, such as pumpkin and cashew, leaving me with a bad taste in my mouth.  While Keith was buying the challah he likes I decided to try one of their scones to get rid of the bad taste.  The scone wasn't very good and didn't help so I stopped and got some fresh friend potato chips I've been wanting to try.

Bruce, Jeanne, did you ever eat the BEST EVER fresh potato chips ever at the Santa Monica Pier?  These were ok but not worth buying again.

I then had to go to Subway to get a drink since I was very thirsty.  We sat on the lawn in the downtown park and enjoyed the magnificent old trees.

Well, I just received a phone call that I wasn't hoping to receive. It seems as if a very good friend is on a rapid downward slide.

I've known Glenn and his wife, Mickey, since I moved to San Antonio. I've traveled with them, often to South Padre Island but also to Santa Fe, N.M. I rang in the new millennium at the top of their tree house, which they have at the back of their ranch house. And they celebrated more than a few Kentucky Derby Days and Night of the Radishes at my house. We've cooked together, gone on birding trips and dolphin tours, and just relaxed under the love oaks in their backyard. We've eaten our way through restaurants far and wide, we've sampled fine wines, guzzled lousy gins, sipped Moscow Mules (a drink Glenn introduced me to years before they got trendy) and generally enjoyed each others' company whenever we could.

He has always displayed this outsized lust for life that made him so much fun to be around. Unfortunately, he has had to go on oxygen and it has depleted his energy almost entirely. In less than two weeks' time, he's become almost entirely bedridden and hospice has been called in to help the two of them at their home. Who knows if he has a week or a month, but he seems to be ready, from what my friends tell me. I am set to go out Thursday. I may try to go out sooner.

Some of those HHW vibes for Glenn would be appreciated.

DR TCB - LAUGHING STOCK as DR GEORGE said.....is a comedy about a theatre company that produces shows in a barn.....just like we do....a lot of it strikes very close to home in a very humorous way.....I'm hoping that it survives the general board meeting.

The Program Committee works hard to put together a season that will work together with our talent pool and our audiences....  Then we get into a meeting and some fool says....."Oh, my great aunt Minnie saw [show] and she didn't like it at all...."

"Oh that's terrible....remember when we did Beans for Breakfast back in grade school?"

"Oh I love Beans for Breakfast....oh let's do that.  All in favor.....motion passes."

And there you are.
