Well, you've read the notes, the notes were strangely strange, and now it is time for you to post until the strangely strange cows come home.

Well, I have to get out of here soon to go to my consultation for everybody's favorite procedure:
a colonoscopy later this summer.  I'm late on this one due to having such a horrible insurance coverage prior to jumping aboard Medicare and a supplemental plan.

If I had said that when I woke up I would have had the 1st post after Bruce.  Needless to say I am bleary-eyed.

TOD:

I "liked" BADLANDS, DAYS OF HEAVEN and THE THIN RED LINE.

As a cinematographer, he has few equals.

However, he is really not a good storyteller.  His films are far too long, slow moving, esoteric and often boring.

I've avoided the last few.  He's just not my cup of tea.

Or, perhaps I'm just getting too old.  The kind of movies I enjoyed 20 years ago hold no interest for me any more.

The alarm rang at 6:30, and I thought I'd sleep a bit longer. At 8:30 I woke.  Jeeezus!

I don't think I'm gong to Columbia today. Jason told me last night that he has the remainder of  Act One for me, so it will be a GUYS & DOLLS day.

I received my free DVD/Blu-ray copies of the UK release of THE HOUND OF THE BASKERVILLES yesterday.

Now, if I only had an all-region player, I could watch my on-camera interview.

My monthly hosting of a classic film at the Austin Library is on Thursday.  This month the movie is WHITE HEAT with Jimmy Cagney.

Tuesday morning greetings!  I'm waiting for my last conference session to begin.  Speaker is Jamie Lee Curtis and the place is packed!

And I am back, with the appointment for MY PROCEDURE set for August 31st.

At 7:30 in the morning, yet.  First one of the day.  Which means little or no sleep at all the night before.  I tried to get one later in the day, even looking on different days, but I guess a few other people have had that idea before me and nothing's available.

I am not much of a Malick fan, although I don't purposely avoid his films.  He just keeps making films I am not interested in.

Rehearsal was fine last night.  Of course....this was supposed to be EASY since I was using experienced actors who had played the roles before.....and of course since my lead dropped out, I had to cast someone who needs a lot of HELP and GUIDANCE.....so my easy job has become a chore....

And I don't have the time to devote to my role in 1776 that I hoped to have....so I won't be quite as prepared when I go into rehearsals there in a few weeks.

TOD:

What everybody else is saying about Malick.  Agree with BK re Badlands and Days of Heaven.  I have The Thin Red Line here but haven't yet watched it.  I watched The Tree of Life and -- as I recall, because the memories are vague -- I thought the actual story of the family was, at least in part, fairly gripping.  But the other stuff?  Are you kidding me?  I'll give the film another go one of these days, but I was bored, man.  And that's all I've seen of his so far.

DR Jrand65, I'm sorry if you told us and I forgot, but which role is it in 1776?

I'm mixed on Malick. I loved The Thin Red Line and Badlands in the theater. Liked Days of Heaven, loathed The New World. Haven't gone out of my way to see any of the others.

Is that a recently done interview, DR Druxy?  It's not on the US Blu-ray set from several years ago, is it?

Malik lives in Austin and filmed his latest, Weightless, there with a huge cast including Ryan Gosling, Cate Blanchett, Natalie Portman, Patti Smith and plenty of local musicians.

I will see it because it gave my friend Deborah her first two IMDb credits, as a restaurant patron and as a casting assistant. The movie opened in London last Friday, which was her birthday.
