I made a couple of resolutions for September 1, one of which is doing better on keeping exercised and generally fit, something I really let go this summer.  And since I find myself about five pounds lighter due to certain extracurricular fun activities these past few days, what better time to get back into eating both right, and more moderately?

Oy.  That was a boring and self-congratulatory way to start page two.  But start page two, I did.

I am very interested to see how the folks at the theater at the Abbey mount THE FANTASTICKS this SEPTEMBER.  It opens in two weeks.  I talked with the MD/pianist (he did their ZORBA), and contrary to earlier reports, he was able to find a harpist willing to deal with playing all the dates and in the open-air venue, which I'd been told earlier was an issue.  So I hope that's still in force and proceeding well.

I'm especially interested, of course, in what this director's concept will be.  She pulled off ACT ONE and ZORBA handsomely, but with all the reports this year of FANTASTICKSes going astray all over the damned place, we shall see.  Right?

I don't think I've ever heard that procedure described as extra-curricular fun before. Hmm.

Oh, look what I just got!  Not one, but (count 'em) two 40%-off-one-item coupons at Barnes and Noble.

They have both of my email addresses which originally happened due to carelessness on my part, but it works to one's advantage at times like this.

Call me lazy.

I got out the door and thought, I'm too old for this crap, came back inside and cancelled my appointment.  I'll reschedule when it's not raining or 90% humidity.  I'm staying in.

I usually get gasoline at about 10 a.m. - so there are few people there....of course there are exceptions.  I like to go to a certain station because you don't have to pay first, and I always fill up my tank....and I don't like to use my card because that usually creates a HOLD on the card until the transaction is completed.

Last week, I won $50 on a scratch off ticket that I had purchased with a $10 winning ticket....on Monday I got a tank full of guess, three more tickets, AND $15 cash back.

I proceeded to win $35 on my new tickets, so I am still ahead.

Tomorrow morning -- yes, this one starts on a Friday -- the next big book sale of the season.  I shall be there at opening (not dealer opening, I'll wait for the public opening a whole hour later) and see what mischief I can stay out of.

DR TCB I hope summer is not over.  I purchased a light weight t-shirt today that says Santorini and I want to wear it when we return home.

I am sitting on our balcony.  There is a comfortable breeze and the view is beautiful.

I am sitting at my desk.

There is no breeze and the sky is grey, grey, grey.

Still, it's my last work day of the week, so there is much to look forward to.

Was up at 4:22 a.m.   I woke up around 3:45 a.m., but never managed to drift back off to sleep.  This has been my whole week, actually (except for Tuesday when I overslept by half an hour).  My normal "get-up" time is between 5:30 and 5:45 a.m.

I'm not happy with these changes.   I hope they resolve themselves soon.

Do you care for the "mountain" variety, as well?

You can wear t-shirts all winter. I do. Just use a button down sweater over it. and leave the sweater open.

Thursday morning greetings!  I've already been to see Tina for a haircut and style.  In a bit, Richard and I are going on an errand date and out to lunch.  Later this afternoon, I'm going to a 50th anniversary reception at the Miami University campus where my career began 43 years ago.

DR Elmore, sounds like you're having the weather we had yesterday.  It will get better - today we have our AC off and our windows open.
