Not sure if Sami is doing lessons regularly - she may well be.  But the voice gets stronger and stronger as do her interpretive skills, with each and every show.  It's fun to watch and it's fun to have played a major part in this growth.  I'll post a few more videos tonight.

Well, I must be going.  A friend of mine is doing a reading from his second book, which was just published.  I'm sure it'll be good.

Be back later.

Some years ago a friend of outposts was working for an organization that  ran the  Star Trek conventions around the country and he always arranged for us to be invited to the ones. That were organized in Manhattan

I was never a Star Trek fan, BUT I'll tell my Star Trek story.

I was in junior high or high school when the series first started. They must have been filming at Desilu because that's where my dad was working then. He'd see the actors in costume and would mention to me the guys with the funny ears. I'd heard about them so many times that by the time the show aired I thought, in true cynical teen style, "Oh, the guys with the funny ears" and dismissed it.

However, my dad had brought home a number of Star Trek scripts. I'd been reading scripts since I was about 6, so that was no big deal.  I still cringe when I think about this: I threw them out!! Yes, I had two or three of the original Star Trek scripts in my hands and I tossed them. Ugh! But nobody knew how popular the show would be or how collectables would appreciate. This was long, long before ANTIQUES ROADSHOW and collectables were a very limited market indeed. There aren't a lot of things I truly regret in life (things I had control over, anyway), but that is one of them.

I do feel sorry for you about that. I wonder what I've tossed over the years that's worth something now.

I did go see Cafe Society, which I really enjoyed. Not top-drawer Woody Allen, but a really absorbing bittersweet comedy.

And the soundtrack was largely Rodgers and Hart, so who could have asked for anything more? (which is actually a Gershwin reference, I know).

So much nostalgia about LA has come my way this year. And I've never been.

I was struck by how very handsome Michael Dorn was - his good looks were hidden under all that Klingon makeup

Stewart was being reserved and dignified and Shatner was chewing the scenery and kissing very female within reach ( I stayed out of reach)

Yet Stewart on Extras was played himself as an old lecher. Every scene had to be rewritten so more female nudity could be included. It was quite funny.

By far the most interesting to me was George Takei while he gave several well attended talks about Star Trek he also gave some smaller ones about the Japanese internment camps.  This was back in 2006  so the The Vixter was 13 going on14... After the talk he sat and spoke with just the two of us for30 to 45 minutes .

Richard and Rob attended at least 2 Star Trek conventions and I went with them to one.  At one they attended without me, Marina Sirtis spoke and Richard reported that pre-teen Rob was especially intrigued by her description of what she wore under her form-fitting costume.  When I went along, we heard George Takei speak and Rob won an autographed photo of Gates McFadden for answering trivia questions on stage.

And Rob told me earlier today that he went unprepared to a high school speech class, but based his extemporaneous speech on the previous night's Star Trek episode and got an A.

I seem to be surrounded by some pretty knowledgeable Trekkies here.

Which is a good thing, because it balances us all out.  For I know nothing -- and I do not exaggerate -- about STAR TREK or anything of its universe.  If someone's watching an episode on TV I'll sit and watch along, but without any idea of what it's really about and how these characters came to be who they are and what they're doing and where they're going.

I just never started, is all.  And then through subsequent seasons, and over the years, I just kept not starting.   :)

But guess what I did start ... just two hours ago.

No guesses?

TONY ROME.  Starring a Mr. Sinatra.

And did I love it, or what?  Oh baby, I love it.  It was the absolutely perfect thing for tonight, and I haven't had such silly fun watching this kind of movie in weeks or months.  What a find -- and I tip my hat to BK for the recent prose that got me off my duff for it.

Sometimes a thing is so bad it's good, and that's unfortunately a very overused expression these days.  But here we have some nice things surrounded by much that is indeed kind of bad, and the resulting mix turns out to be a clear winner.  I cannot wait to show this to a few people who I know will get the same kick out of it.  And of course I'll move on to LADY IN CEMENT, hopefully tomorrow evening.

It's been an all Indiegogo night.  Coming up with some fun perks.  Still hoping some dear readers will come in for the show.  I haven't done any of the unique to me perks - stuff from my collection, but I will.  I'll look for some art and perhaps some signed stuff from interesting folks, just like last time.  So, just waiting for the video, which I'll hopefully have tonight or in the morning.
