Larry, thanks for you reply about THIS LIFE. I was hoping it was available from one of my sources. I'll watch for it, though, as Acorn (the most likely source) often brings in new shows.

Re 9/11:
I'll never forgive the networks for their incessant airing of the collapse of the towers. It seems like every time 9/11 is mentioned, they feel compelled to show that footage again. Was it not enough that we lived through it, that we were traumatized first-hand? I find it insensitive journalism. I understand the need to review significant events on their anniversary, but I wish to stay away as much as possible. For me, it's still a bit raw.

Hi, Vixmom. Can you tell us just where you're going or would you then have to kill us?

(We will assume a visit with the Vixter will be included.)

Re the news in my 'hood:
We have been given a new mail carrier, a seasoned woman who knows the route. It is hoped that she will clean up the mail mess. Or so we were told. Last February I complained (in writing) because we had had NO mail delivery for FIVE straight days. The following day our mail suddenly appeared. More recently, the carriers had stopped picking up any outgoing mail. My neighbor David corralled one of the carriers and asked about it. Her response: the outgoing mail truck leaves at 4 pm. Since we rarely receive mail before 6 pm there was nothing they could do. REALLY? Snail mail may seem rather archaic, but I, for one, still want my mail. And still want outgoing mail to be picked up. Daily.

End of rant. I think.

So, lots of aggravation.

I'm ready to move to another planet. I'm not sure I want it to be populated by humans, however.

The really involved tax returns are not necessarily the rich people.  They are more often the very small sole practitioners and self-employed folks who have lots of paperwork to get together and find that this works most efficiently (for them) if they do that collecting of paperwork under a stressful deadline.

Most often, they don't have any staff to get their paper work together, so they have to do it themselves, to find the receipts and get the stuff together in time for us to do it under the wire for Oct. 15th.

For me, the stressful deadline is NOT a help. It's that there are tons of receipts, as you mentioned, and no one to help. Also, my documents seldom arrive on time, despite laws requiring them to do so. The booklet my accountant sends out was designed by accountants, for accountants. I'm not an accountant. It could be friendlier. I have legitimate deductions, but often don't know where they're supposed to go.

Speaking of tax accountants, does anyone have any ideas for how to find a good one? This person needs to be licensed to practice in California. I don't like large firms; I'd prefer a small firm or sole practitioner. I need someone who's patient with clients' questions. ??

In other news, the belt I purchased last fall is now TOO BIG and I had to go back to the smaller belt I used to use.....I am also wearing a pair of jeans that I could NOT button about two months ago....

The struggle is real.

I am going with my three sisters to see THE ODD COUPLE this evening.  I hope it is funny....or at least I hope I have a chance to laugh a few times.....

This has been a strange day. I've accomplished a few things, but I cannot get motivated to do much more.
