It's feeling like the September 15th deadline (for businesses) may be under control at the tax office.

That's unusual and somehow I think we'll find something that was left out, just to make the last days hectic.

Then comes the October 15th deadline (for individuals who are on extension, mainly the people with really involved returns, it seems) - which from this vantage point looks a lot calmer than the Sept. 15th deadline.

The really involved tax returns are not necessarily the rich people. They are more often the very small sole practitioners and self-employed folks who have lots of paperwork to get together and find that this works most efficiently (for them) if they do that collecting of paperwork under a stressful deadline.

Most often, they don't have any staff to get their paper work together, so they have to do it themselves, to find the receipts and get the stuff together in time for us to do it under the wire for Oct. 15th.

Although I agree with you that some of the casting was rather odd, my wife and I enjoyed THE PEOPLE VS. O.J. SIMPSON when it aired. Overall, we thought it was quite good.

Sometimes the story itself is enough to sustain one's interest.

I also agree that there are far too many choices these days on TV. I don't care how good the shows are supposed to be, I'm not going to get into Hulu or Amazon or any of the other streaming services. There are just so many hours in the day and I have many more important things to do.

We watched GENIUS last night, a film about book editor Max Perkins and his relationship with Thomas Wolfe.

The picture was well written and acted and, because I was unfamiliar with the story, I'm glad I saw it...once. However, movies about writers writing are certainly not the most engrossing.

Now that I've called my doctor about another hip injection, my left leg has decided to be as quixotic as possible: at 2:30 this morning I couldn't sleep for the pain. At the moment, I'm walking quite well on it.

Saturday morning greetings! We had a lovely evening with Sharon and Tom and enjoyed Human Race Theatre's SWEENEY TODD. They used their space and turntable stage quite effectively and the cast was strong. My favorites were Rebecca Watson as Mrs. Lovett, Aaron Vega as The Beadle, David McDonald as Judge Turpin, and DJ Plunkett as Tobias. Jamie Cordes' Sweeney Todd was OK, but he's too much of a boy-next-door to be believable as the Demon Barber of Fleet Street. Some make-up would have helped - dark circles, etc. It was opening night, so there were a few stumbles - literally by Mrs. Lovett who fell on the curtain call - and some balance problems during scenes on the upper level of the turntable when it was in motion. They run through October 2 and I hope there's enough interest in Dayton, OH, to keep the house as full as it was last night.

How large was the orchestra?

8 - Drums/percussion, Trumpet/flugelhorn, Conductor/keyboard I, Reeds, Bass, Bassoon, Keyboard II, French horn.

And they were hidden.
