Thursday afternoon greetings! I got up very early to accompany Fr. Richard to the opening mass for the clergy conference because we'd been told that his "transfer of orders" to this denomination would be acknowledged during the service. It took 90 minutes and no acknowledgement. He stayed for the meetings and I called a taxi to take me downtown to the Library of Virginia where I spent several hours trying to expand my sister's genealogy research. I found some preliminary evidence on our great great great great great grandfather, but nothing that would count as proof of anything. I am now back at our hotel.

Right where I am right now, more or less. Stephen Ellis, our 4th great-grandfather died in Goochland County, which we drove through yesterday (and will again tomorrow). He was born in Surry County, VA, closer to Jamestown, where we think it all began for our paternal line in the New World.

I think for some of these visits, when I don't have to make stops to see other relatives, I'm going to start flying over. I really love driving, but this one is l-o-n-g and not getting any shorter.
