The show sounds really wonderful.  Damned wonderful.

Wouldn't it be great if there were to be videos of the numbers BK highlighted in the notes?   :)

Yesterday I was going through some stuff, and was inspired to take out a recording I probably hadn't listened to in close to forty years:  The Six French Suites and Italian Concerto by one J.S. Bach, played by one Arthur Loesser.

Oh my lord, could that man play the pye-ano.

I feel so privileged to have known him at least as a teacher for a short time before his death.

I don't think he ever recorded for a mainstream label; this was done locally in Cleveland, and I'm thankful it sounds as decent as it does.  I'm going to record it to high-res digital, and will see about acquiring the few other such recordings of his that are out there.

Yesterday's inspiration was inspired, itself, by DR Elmore's mention of a harpist I had known (in passing -- I don't think we ever did anything together except probably play in a few orchestral pieces) as a student:  Lisa Wellbaum.

I found an article announcing her retirement from the Cleveland Orchestra in 2007, in which she reminisces about Alice Chalifoux, the orchestra's harpist I totally remember as a constant presence in my years there.

A wonderful trip down memory lane.

TOD:
I hate mixing Christmas/Holiday songs with carols of a religious nature, so I'm sticking to holiday songs.
Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas
White Chrisrtmas
Winter Was Warm
The Christmas Song
Frosty the Snowman
Suzy Snowflake
Lovers on Christmas Eve
What Are you Doing New Year's Eve?
Winter Wonderland
I'll Be Home For Christmas

And I am partial to our Moonshine & Mistletoe song onn the Broadway Cares album!

Beautiful day, but very trying.

The airline is trying to add a surprise 26-hour layover in Istanbul that would bring me back on Monday, not Sunday.

Monday morning greetings!  My stomach is a little "wiggy" today, but I'm up and moving and hope to make it to a ladies' group meeting this afternoon.

TOD - "Sing Hosanna, Hallelujah" from the New Christy Minstrels' album Merry Christmas.  It captures both the sacred and secular joys of the season.

And I've always wondered:

How "Baby, It's Cold Outside" has become a Christmas song?

I think about the same time all the cold weather songs became Christmas songs.

It never caught on, and indeed is no longer in the show I wrote it for, but here was my attempt to write a peppy "Christmas shopping in New York" song

Beautiful day, but very trying.

The airline is trying to add a surprise 26-hour layover in Istanbul that would bring me back on Monday, not Sunday.

And just recently our trip to Istanbul was cancelled by the cruise line, plus our friend's flights through Istanbul were rerouted.  Our timing was rather bad.

I am pretty sure I either read IN THE NAME OF THE ROSE or previously gave up on it.  It is all too familiar and a bit boring to me.  I was procrastinating returning to the book, which meant I wasn't reading something else.  I just returned the book to the library.

I have begun reading NEUROMANCER by William Gibson.

Has anyone read this?  The opening sentence/paragraph is...

"The sky above the port was the color of television, tuned to a dead channel"
