A horribly aggravating story...the fix for which requires even more aggravation.

DR elmore is there the possibility of a fix?  I just thought you were reporting him.  Does your receipt show you gave him $60 and what the change was?

At 50th Street, I missed the crosstown bus, so I grabbed a taxi, who took me to Rockefeller Plaza, and the cost was $4.30.  I paid him with a $20 bill (I thought) and I asked him for $15 change. I gave him a $2.00 tip, a total tip of $2.70.  Just before I left the taxi, I asked the driver for a receipt.
I got to my barber and discovered I'd given him all three $20 bills!  The jerk never bothered to tell I'd given him too many and my taxi ride of two blocks cost me $47.00.  I had to walk to Sixth Avenue and 52n Street to withdraw another $60.

NOOOOO!!!  :(

Hope it all can get remedied quickly!!

Very interesting listening to all this Sibelius.  Where I had alternate versions of the symphonies they were by Ormandy.  So, what I can tell you is I simply don't care for Maazel's performances of those symphonies, which are the first, second, and seventh.  I listened to the Maazel first and I thought each symphony was okay.  Then Ormandy and what a difference - the playing in the Maazel can't be faulted it's all in the way the music is shaped and presented by each conductor.  I've read up on all the other full sets available and I'll take a chance on the first Colin Davis go-through of the seven symphonies with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, who play so beautifully on the Steinberg The Planets.   It's highly thought of and the samples sound beautiful and he seems to be in the Ormandy mould.  Ormandy was a huge champion of Sibelius and it's really surprising he didn't record all the symphonies.

My smile was for the fact the message would be printed out.  I thought it was a theater ticket with happy birthday in many languages written all over it.  Maybe I am wrong-lol

Skip just walked in and saw the birthday wishes on the screen, and says thank you.

He was almost going to make his own birthday cake but somehow that seemed wrong, so we'll get something from Little Pie Shop.

Maybe I should have thanked everyone individually, which might have gotten us closer to page 4.

Our lunch from Haru restaurant was excellent.  Since it's a special day, we chose to order the entrees rather than the usual lunch specials.  Skip said the entree version turned out to be  really much better than the lunch special of the same sushi plate.  And they serve it rather nicely even though it's for delivery.

It won't be.  I'll never get the money back, but but it's been reported.

I just spoke to Rob Berman, who flies to Japan at 6:00am tomorrow.  When he returns on Nov. 28, I hope we can finally make the Big announcement.

If a receipt showed I gave him $60, he would have had to acknowledge it.

And in the polar opposite department, I am listening to the music of George Antheil, the "bad boy of music" so dubbed for what was at the time his completely outrageous Ballet Mechanique.  We issued that and his fourth symphony back in the Bay Cities days and I have no memory at all of that CD.  But in the closet I had several discs which I'm sure contain better performances.  Listening to his piano concerto now - first movement ranges from interesting tonalities to banging, but there's something fun about it.  He was also a very good if not prolific film composer - we issued his The Pride and the Passion on CD, which is wonderful, and I love his ballet that I wrote about the other day, Capital of the World.

Big Antheil fan.

His story of developing a missile detection technique with Hedy Lamarr is detailed in the fun book Hefy's Folly.
