I am listening now to Roberto Gerhard's fourth symphony, entitled New York - why I have no idea. Mr. Gerhard is a "modern" composer of non-melodic music, but I like his orchestrations and his orchestral colors. I try to give these kinds of works a few listens before I nuke them.

I think that's all any of us can do - try to make it better. And if we fail, we try again. To not try is a lesson in negativity and giving up. I suppose there are times when people do give up because they reach that point - I hope none of us on this here site do, though.

Richard and I were out for a few hours this afternoon and I've decided to keep a pretty low profile until my second eye surgery. My mismatched eyes cause some disorientation and driving a shopping cart through Kroger convinced me not to try driving a car. Also, there's a lot of coughing and sneezing out there, which I don't need.
