Well, you've read the notes, the notes responded, and now it is time for you to post until the responding cows come home.

I was just about to post this last night, but the day got locked:

Peter Mennin (who wrote the Moby Dick concertato that I just listened to), is described as a "symphonist."  In the liner notes it says, "Like an alarming number of important symphonists -- Beethoven, Schubert, Dvořák, Bruckner, Mahler, Vaughan Williams -- Peter Mennin would die shortly after finishing his ninth work in the form."

Very strange.  I had no idea that so many had died after writing nine.  It's almost like the 27 Club..."a term that refers to the belief that an unusually high number of popular musicians and other artists have died at age 27."

Topic of the Day:  The Duruflé Requiem, mostly because I just listened to it. ;)

Otherwise, I don't know a lot about classical music, especially instrumentals.  I've listened to some, and enjoyed some, but don't really "know" enough of them to have a favorite.

It is chilly, but I'm more amazed that by Thursday the temperatures are going up 30 degrees!  I of course blame the new President-defect and his "friends" in Congress.

Another day in midtown.  The countdown to Thursday is on, and if I can take tomorrow off and accomplish some work at home that would be nice.

It's 47 out and going up to 68 today. By Wednesday, it should be 81 degrees.

It's time for the San Antonio Cocktail Conference. We almost always have great weather for that.

I really enjoy Mozart's Symphony No. 40, which I heard the other night.

BK, I think Mozart is right up there with God, and there are amazing compositions besides the symphonies:
1. Clarinet quintet
2. The Piano concertos
3. The various orchestral concertos:  horn, flute, harp, bassoon, etc
4. Eine Kleine Nachtmusik
5. the ballets score "Les Petites Riens"
6. the serenades

Today is Monday, this much I know.

And it's a REAL Monday, by God.  Not another one of those Tuesday Mondays.

I'm listening to a new to me Sandy Wilson score called His Monkey Wife. Good score, but strange story.

There's keyboard work in store for me today.  I haven't touched an ivory plastic in nearly three weeks.

Listening to Vivaldi's concerti for bassoon (or fagotto in Italian)
