Is George okay?  Very unusual.

I'm okay.  Thanks for asking.  The last couple of days at work have been a bit hectic, then I had to go shopping and eat, then I had things to do on my old computer thtg took up some time, and I just got distracted for a bit.  Then when I was done with things that needed to be done and dealt with, I just wanted to go to sleep.  So I did.  And now I'm here, but not for too long, now.

Finally finished futzing and finessing - lots of little changes and additions and a lot of smoothing out.  Then I went onto a new page and now I shall keep writing new pages until I need a break.

He is a party boy - so he may have had performances and parties and family last night.

I wish. ;) No partying or family last night.

Today, I'm going to my parents' for the weekly family get-together (it's usually on Friday, but wasn't yesterday, so we're getting together today).  Also, my mom had me buy a recumbent excercise bike for her (she paid for it).  It arrived on Tuesday, so I'll bring it over today and assemble it.  I'm sure we'll play our family favorite, Phase 10, then I'll come home for the rest of the evening. :)

Yesterday I started looking through my stuff for a couple of photographs, which I found, but this morning that pursuit led me to going through my woefully ignored collection of color slides.  In addition to prints, I shot slides from the early 1970s through the mid-1980s.  Rediscovered some amazing stuff, which little by little I'll scan for various people (including myself), and I'll no doubt post a few things here eventually that might be of interest.

One of the first things that I ever bought on eBay was a set of slides taken by Gorman Bechard (whom our very own Vixmom actually dated!) of The Manhattan Transfer in performance in the 1970s!

And now, I must be off.  I have to shower and get dressed, remove the recycling from my trunk (it's been there for too long), put the recumbent bike into my trunk, then go to my parents' for family frivolity.

Have a good day, all!

Who said it feels like Sunday?  It TOTALLY feels like Sunday to me, and has since I got up.  I was happy to realize it's only Saturday, which is better for doing a few of the things I'd sort of planned on doing.

It did until I went to the gym.  We never go on Sundays.

I also had the triple AAA come out because it's been sounding like my battery's going bad - slow to turn over in the mornings.  But he checked it, the alternator and the starter and all show as in perfect working order, so maybe it's just the cold weather.

How cold is it?

I am doing laundry. It is a glorious day here, sunny and brisk, after all our RAIN. Can you believe it? RAIN!
The rain returns tomorrow, and as I must go outside to get to the laundry room, I wanted to get it done today.

It doesn't sound as if you think it is cold ;)

Since hurting my knee if I go 20 minutes on it my knee hurts.  I'm fine on the treadmill.

Did I post a week or two ago about having accidentally (i.e., carelessly) leaving a door ajar and running my battery down?  We have a battery charger here that works beautifully, and after a couple of hours all was well.  And it's been well ever since.

Until today.

This afternoon I went out to start on my errands, and -- no battery.  Put the charging unit to it again, and all is well again.  For now.  But I hadn't driven the car for two days, and even though nothing was left turned on, AND we aren't in arctic weather, I'm taking this as a sign that it's time for a new battery.  I'll check my records, but I think it's been a good several years ago that I got this one.  And several years, say, five to seven, is a good life span.

Another damned PBS fund drive.  I would swear that Channel 21 has one every other week.

Best to not delay until your little charger doesn't work ;)

I do believe I have just finished a book.  There were two options as to how many pages it would be (just a little superstitious thing I sometimes do) - it turned out to be the slightly shorter option (just a seven page difference).  It feels like a good length to me and should come out around 200 real book pages.  So, I actually wrote thirteen pages in two-and-a-half hours.  I'm sure I'll be futzing and finessing aplenty and perhaps adding a thing or two, but if whatever I add sends it over the current page then I have to add the seven pages to get to the second option for how many pages the book is.  It's over 50,000 words and it may be the fastest book I've written, although I'm not sure about that.  But a day shy of three weeks.

And I got very emotional - this book turned out to be so different than what thought it was going to be when I began it.  It's so much more now, and it just went so many unexpected places, which is always the part where the book starts writing itself.  I think the ending came out pretty well.

Just finished watching "Bingo Long ...," which was a lot of fun. I think my favorite part, though, were the songs that William Goldstein wrote and that Thelma Houston knocked out of the park. Old-timey New Orleans-style tunes.
