Dancing went well this morning. I can always do better but I was fine with the results.

Good.  Did you feel ok?

Yes. No kidney pain today.

Larry, your story sounds like A Thousand Acres, a mix of Midwest and Shakespeare. I say novelize it.

I love that novel!   I have never seen the film, but the book is amazing.  Yes, I've lived King Lear for many years.  Je suis Cordelia.

The reviews on the movie weren't very good.  I never read the book, too close to home.  Maybe I will read it now.

The book was spellbinding, as good as any modern novel I can remember reading.

Listening to music (new Sibelius set - this one oh so Russian - VERY interesting).  But I think I'll go sit on my couch like so much fish and watch a motion picture.

I tend to avoid books about sisters.  This might have been something my book group would have picked, except for our attempts to limited books on dysfunctional families.  There seem to be too many of those and for awhile it seemed we were reading them all ;D

Listening to another set of Sibelius symphonies, this one by a Russian conductor whose way with the Rachmaninov Symphony 2 is quite good.  Here he's a really mixed bag as is the playing by the orchestra.  The first symphony is done in a fashion the likes of which no other performance does - he galumphs over it with big Russian boots - it made me laugh a couple of times, which I don't believe was Sibelius' intention.  There's also distortion on the track.  So far only the bits of each symphony have worked for me - especially in the second where he brings out some woodwind figures that are wonderful and mostly buried in all the other performances I've heard, and the third and fourth have some nice moments.  I've just started the fifth and hopefully it will get better, but the winds, which are REALLY important in the beginning of the symphony are so thin and ugly you want to strangle them.

I guess I'll put the motor car in the garage, then take a hot shower.

Oh dear - the oddest fifth I've ever heard - at times like a rousing beer hall - what WAS in this conductor's head, I wonder?  Thankfully I find all interpretations at least interesting.  But wow, this is like nothing I've ever heard.  I fear for the final movement :)
