There's a short video of Moonlight director Barry Jenkins in the Criterion library. He got to take what he wanted for free. He took many I have and more that I want. Just hearing him on the Cassavettes box set was wonderful. And his delight at the Jacques Demy set, Rasomon and Monsoon Wedding was great.

I envy him.

Good luck on that bonus John!

Ditto!!

Working for an organization funded by public tax money, there's no such thing as a bonus for us.

It's 16.8%. Excellent when you consider the year we had.

That's amazing!  We employees got a 1.75% COLA, and the materials budget (what I have to deal with) got a 16.4% CUT! :-\

When Bruce asks "What are your all-time favorite coffee shops?" my first response is Ships, not because it was a favorite but because it was a coffee shop I enjoyed well enough as a child.

Obviously DR George immediately thought of today's coffee houses which I don't believe existed prior to the Starbuck's phenomenon. He responded "Topic of the Day:  not a coffee drinker, so I don't have a favorite coffee shop.  Sorry."

When I google coffee house all I see are the modern day coffee shops and not the ones of old.
Starbucks is not a coffee shop in any way, shape, or form.  Coffee shop has a very specific meaning.  Ships, yes.  Coral Cafe, Du-Par's, Lancer's, Tallyrand, Gaby's, Stat's, Googie's, Lyttles, yes.  Coffee Bean, no.  Starbucks, no.  A coffee shop will always have complete breakfasts, sandwiches and burgers, usually pies, and hot dishes.

Ahh...thanks for the clarification.  Then, the only places that I've been to that would fit the definition would be Denny's, IHOP and Shari's.  All have been pretty good (and not so good, at times).

DR George and DR TCB, TripAdviser refers to the Spruce Goose Cafe in Townsend, WA as “The '50's Coffee Shop Reinvented”.  Have either of you eaten there?

Not I.

The omens were wrong. The day turned out quite well.  Joshie and I had a good work session, I got my wish on the orchestra situation, and I am home.  It's snowy and a bit sloshy outside, but I am home, and happy to be here.

Very good news, Larry!

Garage door fixed - one of the sensors was slightly off - don't know how that happened since I never touch them.  And he oiled everything and gave it the once-over and all is well.

One package is definitely not arriving today - just more bad Amazon BS that gets worse with every passing day - but the other one is still "out for delivery" via Amazon's own delivery service.  THAT moron loves to show up at the last minute, usually too late for me to get there before they close.  I've lodged yet another complaint about this yahoo - I don't know what is so hard about delivering to a UPS Store earlier in the day - they make their own routes and schedules and they know the hours - in other words, RESIDENCES don't close so do those last not first.  This idiot has been out for deliver since eight this morning.
