I went to acupuncture today. Parking on the street isn't usually difficult, but today there was nothing. I drove a couple blocks to an area Erik had told me about and found a space. But when I came back after treatment no car. It was that eerie feeling you get when you THOUGHT you parked your car there, but it's not there. Oh, dear. I walked back to the acupuncture office to get out of the rain, then started making phone calls. Yes, the car was towed. Apparently, I'd parked partly in someone's driveway, which of course I'd never do intentionally. I had no idea it was a driveway--probably because I as so glad to finally find a space. There were lots of trees and what I thought was a fence. Apparently, it was a movable fence.

I took a cab to the impound lot, paid an exorbitant fee, and now have my car back. Inside the car was a ticket, quite sodden, in addition to the impound fees. Ugh! About $350 total. So much for saving money.

Too bad you didn't have a photo - I'm sure you weren't really blocking the asshole from getting out of his driveway or whatever.

Tonight I'll return to CLOSE TO THE ENEMY.

If anyone else watches Poliakoff films/TV I'd be interested in your reactions. Poliakoff has his own style and a fair amount of social commentary. They're not Screenwriting 101.They have substance and I'm drawn into his characters. I always find them interesting.

OUCH!

Any change of suggesting a sign be put on the fence since it is deceiving?

I'll have to be careful about camouflaged driveways. The parking restrictions are so strict that there's hardly enough parking for the businesses. One residential street after another with zero cars, all because the residents won't allow anyone but themselves to park on the city streets.  I don't know what The Powers That Be are thinking.

I think I'd be wasting my time and energy. I'm sure the City won't require it and I doubt that the homeowners would see my point.

I'd like to find an online source for parking restrictions, say, block by block. That would be useful.

I don't think you can get your money back, only kindly put they might do something so others don't get towed.

It's a Herringbone kind of day. "Not President, Please" has taken on a whole new meaning.

Excellent!!!  I'll let Skip know.

Fred, please tell Skip how much I enjoy Herringbone. It is truly one of the most deliciously twisted musicals I have ever encountered.

I'll tell Skip that, too!!

Watching a fine documentary called Cameraman, about cinematographer Jack Cardiff, who shot the Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger movies and a great many other fine films.

Reservations in at the library for both Allied and Moonlight, two of the movies I really wanted to see last night but missed at the theater.
