Hot Dogs:

I like 'em steamed, with lots of onions and mustard...and chili.

If I can't have chili, then pile on the sauer kraut.

I also nuke 'em in the microwave, take a piece of loaf bread and squeeze mustard onto it and then wrap it around the dog.

I'm up, I'm up - a bit over nine hours of sleep, which I guess I needed.  I awoke to news that I've been hired to direct a new musical - it's really kind of a glorified workshop that's not open to the public when it plays its two performances - but it is, in fact, a full production with sets, lighting, costumes, a band, a full Equity paid cast.  Kay is choreographing (although there's not much to choreograph at this point) and she recommended me because she knew the other directors they'd talked to and didn't relish working with any of them.  It's a really difficult piece because it's VERY dark - not the kind of thing I do, really, but that was what got me the job - because I told them I could only approach the material positively because I think the audience has to feel not relentlessly bombarded with dark.  They liked that.  They're first time authors, so I can probably be of help in terms of smoothing out the obvious problems.  It all happens pretty quickly - casting end of March, rehearsing mid-April opening end of May and, in fact, when it opens I'll already be rehearsing Dial M for Murder - but the schedule works because these rehearsals are days and end at five and the Dial M rehearsals don't start till seven.

It sounds very interesting.  Congratulations!

The extraction was uncomfortable, but not terrible.

Just wait until tonight ;)

I am glad it went well.

The recommended ENT isn't available till next week, but they have several ENTs in that office so I'm seeing one of them tomorrow, unless this clears up completely by then.

I hope you are pleased with the doctor you do see.  Tomorrow is nice and fast.

TCB, I'm glad the dental work is over with. And I am glad you got some good drugs.

TOD:

Not pan-fried.  I liked hot dogs and baked beans.  In a bun I preferred them boiled or grilled on the BBQ, in the bun with just ketchup.  Then there was Cupid's in L.A that served them on a bun with their chili, truly the only chili I have ever liked.  I doubt it would pass DR John's chili palate but I loved them.

Once we stopped eating meat we began purchasing Leanies by Worthington products that tasted just like a regular hot dog, which no other vegetarian product does IMHO.

It has been years since I have been able to purchase these.

TOD: My DH is from Chicago, so every once in a while we will go get a Chicago-style hot dog from a local hot dog stand. I'm pretty much meh about them, but he loves them.

Today is a shopping day.  I decided yesterday that I would buy myself a back brace, since that seems to be the body area that is causing me the most problems.  Perhaps that will put me back in better order.

Jack, please let me know which sort of brace you purchased and how well you like it. My doctor submitted a referral for me for a brace last SEPTEMBER and I'm still waiting. He's submitted it three times now. It hasn't been denied, just caught up in a very dysfunctional bureaucracy. Aren't HMOs wonderful?

Incrediwear makes a back brace I'd like to try, but it's $75 and not returnable. UCLA has trained staff for fitting braces, but think how much money they save by their ineptitude!

Drove out of the neighborhood in daylight this morning. The house at the corner apparently was another storm victim as a huge section of wooden fence had blown across the street.

I'm glad you were spared. I know how frightening "weather events" can be.

Fred, I enjoyed the lyrics you posted the other day. I'm not familiar with the tune, but I still liked the lyrics.

Last night's portion of the preparation actually was not unpleasant...certainly not actually pleasant mind you, but it wasn't an uncomfortable experience (I had read some real horror stories on-line).

Glad you're doing OK.

Everyone is sick here in LA.

YES. I've been sick since Friday. I am THANKFUL, THANKFUL, THANKFUL that I am not worse. No cold symptoms to speak of, only fatigue and some fever. As long as I stay warm and bundled up I'm not too bad. I opened the kitchen window a few inches today after the rain ended, only to start feeling sick again. I got the message. Without Sambucol I think I'd be much worse.

I have a therapy appointment tomorrow which I do NOT want to miss. Fortunately, Erik seldom gets sick.

Jane, if you liked those hot dogs, then that's all that matters.

I am having a salad though I think you would like: Marie's Country Olive Salad. Roasted lemon-cured olives and romaine in handmade green goddess dressing. So good.

The only way to really enjoy a hot dog is to have it grilled and served on a  bun which has also been toasted on the grill and served with brown mustard and hot sauerkraut.

You can put caraway seeds in the sauerkraut when you cook it
