I did not watch the telecast live except the last 30 minutes. I went and saw La La Land last night and loved it. My kind of film.

I too was wondering why the stage manager was there during the acceptance speaches for best picture and now know why. So glad I did not turn off the tv right away!

Because of my neighbor's weekend late homecomings, I lost 90 minutes ofd sleep last night ad I am not amused.  When I turned out the lights at 1000, I had no idea if she were home or out.  When I woke at 11:00, I was so apprehensive that I would doze off and she would come in and wake me that I was awake until some time past 12:30.  She and I are heading for some kind of confrontation.

So, this morning I see my accountant at 10 and my taxes should be finished my 11:00 or so.  I will then head to City Center, meet with Joshie and Rob, and then head home.

I'm going through my usual pre-tax jitters, wondering if I will owe money or how much I will be given back.

I remember one dream from last night.  DR Ginny and Richard were in it, along with other Ohio friends, and it had something to do with a misscheduled concert, and two other conflicts on the same night.

As to last night's Oscars, I came home from dinner with DRs vixmom and edisaurus, got ready for ned, read the first pages of The Other Boleyn Girl - already bistorically inaccurate - and went to bed, sometime between 9:30 and 10.

Wow, your accountant does your return while you're right there in the office?

That's great service!

I went to bed last night. When one gets up early, one must go to bed early as well.

T.O.D.

Aside from the unbelievable ending, my favorite part of the show was when the tourists came through.  That was real.

I shall read last night's posts later today.

I did not watch the OSCARS because I didn't want to hear all about how bad things are - I KNOW HOW BAD THINGS ARE.....just like last year when DiCaprio used his great moment to lecture us peasants on Global Warming.....

I watched a couple of episodes of MST3K OnDEMAND on a service I didn't know existed SHOUT! FACTORY.  And then  I went to sleep.

I watched some of the ceremony this morning - particularly the world shaking and MOST IMPORTANT thing in the world - a mistaken announcement of one movie for another.....

And now life can go on.

I of course am sorry to have missed the HHW OSCAR BASH and hopefully next year, things will have settled down, and the high priced talent will have found another cause to beat their gums about.....

I'm sorry to have missed the Oscar Bash here.

Guess who didn't see even one minute of the broadcast last night?  For the first time in many years.

By the time I got home from the show and the after-thing (at which there was a TV, but with sound turned off and closed captioning turned on so we could occasionally glance at it), I could probably have turned it on just in time to catch the amazing Live TV Disaster, but I was wiped out and just decided to hit the sack.  Why I didn't think to DVR the thing, I have no idea.  But thank God for the internet, because I shall now be able to take a look at wherever the disaster is immortalized, to relish it in all its glory.

Vixmom's day in the city sounded wonderful.  Nice photographic evidence, too!

I have not seen MOONLIGHT yet, though I've just ordered it on Amazon since I have every Best Picture winner in my DVD library.

However, I wonder if this is one of those movies that you see once because of the awards, then don't care if you ever see it again.

I'm not suggesting that these aren't excellent pictures, but how many times can you watch such movies like SOPHIE'S CHOICE (not a  Best Picture winner), 12 YEARS A SLAVE, BIRDMAN, THE LOST WEEKEND, GENTLEMAN'S AGREEMENT and other films of the moment?

It's amazing when you look at films that have won Best Picture over the Academy's history, how relatively few of them are still watched regularly today by the public.  Winning a Best Picture Oscar does not make a film a "classic".
