Just forced myself to finish February House, Sherril Tippins' story of the house that Auden, Carson McCullers, the Bowles, Benjamin Britten and Gypsy Rose Lee shared. I didn't want it to end. Now I want to read more Auden, hear more Britten and find out more about George Davis, the man who brought them all together and later married Lotta Lenya.

DR Druxy  I love both the both and film GENTLEMAN'S AGREEMENT, and both have been repeated.

 ???

I think it is a good thought provoking story, not heartbreaking like SOPHIE'S CHOICE.

But "we ran out of rice pudding" ! An Artie's dinner should always end with rice pudding

Last night we watched the excellent 2007 film, FRACTURE, with Ryan Gosling & Anthony Hopkins.

I have returned to Denial, which has some truly good performances and a tight script by David Hare.

Earlier in the day we met cousins of Keith's in Portland.  Keith and his cousin met through their genealogy research.

Cool!  Last month ago, my mom found out that she has a half-brother back in Germany (they have the same father)!  He knew about her from their paternal grandmother (who died many years ago, and their father died in 2003), but only recently decided to contact her through FB.  He actually had (and sent) some pictures of my mom when she was a child that she had never seen!

Note to Druxy - my TV is in one room and my computer is in another.  Didn't stop me from relentlessly posting in the commercial breaks.

Perhaps you're not dealing with mobility issues.

Heard a test sample of the audio book - he sounds great and my only note was perhaps a little less narratorish and more real person.  But his voice sounds really nice and I think it's going to be a fun audio book.

 8)  Was she surprised when he contacted her?  Do they have plans to meet in person?

My half-sister discovered that her father lives in the Pacific Northwest and she has contacted him from Germany. He and his children would like to be in touch, but his wife has nixed that idea. I feel very sorry for Brigitte.

I have finished Denial. the script in the end lacked the tension that perhaps it needed, largely because, early in the credits, they ran the name of the book that the movie is based on. That title gave away the ending.

But if you are interested in a good drama about the Holocaust with a great cast and an intelligent script, this is it.

This is sad for all of them, except for the horrible wife.

And now for something a little more fun. The library has picked up the last seven Colombo movies, filmed between 1994 and 2003. Love Peter Falk in these.
