I finished my proofreading about 2:00 and spent the afternoon on the phone or reading. My retired press agent friend, Bob Ullman, who's 95, called me to tell me how proud he was of me. I hadn't spoken to him in four years, and I cannot let this time get by again.
Bob was the press agent for four Ethel Merman shows - Call Me Madam, Happy Hunting, Gypsy, and Hello Dolly! - and the 1964 revival of Boys From Syracuse, among many others. When I spoke to him last, I sent him the CD set of Dearest Enemy. I told him I'd send him Roberta, and he told me he saw Bob Hope, Lyda Roberti, Tamara, and the original cast in 1933.
