Back from a delightfully delightful luncheon with Sandy and Doug - Genghis Cohen and for once the day chef was as good as the night chef - in fact, the meal was rather perfectly perfect and I didn't overeat.

Here's a write-up about TAO's 1984The themes of Orwell’s ‘1984’ resonate in today’s fractured society.

And here's an actual review:
http://olyarts.org/2017/03/23/review-1984/
Quote
This is not a fun play to watch. There is absolutely nothing entertaining about it, yet 1984 is a play that should be seen by everyone. In 1949 it was a vision of a possible future; today it is a vision of emerging reality from which we cannot hide.

My friend Todd, who's here from Florida, met me for lunch at Junior's.  He had gone to "Do--Cookie Dough Confections" this morning.  It's apparently the latest fad--the line can take up to four hours.   He got me a little cup of brownie dough.  Very tasty, but I can't imagine waiting in line for 1 hour, let alone 4.

Todd already had a ticket for War Paint.   I stopped by the theatre and got a rush seat for $40.   It's on the side, 7 seats from the aisle, but in the third row.  The man at the box office said it was not a partial view seat.   I looked at Ticketmaster and saw that the seat three seats to the left of mine is selling for $250.

I made my hotel reservation through Hotwire.com.  When I tried to check in they had a reservation in my last name, but the first name was Joseph. After checking the confirmation number it was determined that it was my reservation after all.  Not sure how that happened---my confirmation email clearly shows Kevin.

Well, I'm off.  First, I need to print some programs for tonight's performance of 1984 that I won't be seeing...yet, anyway.  Then, I'm going to my parents' house for our weekly family dinner.  Then I'm going to The Midnight Sun to drop off the money till and programs for the opening night of 1984.  Then I'm going to Olympia Little Theatre to run the sound for the opening night of The Trip to Bountiful

After the show, I'll go back to The Midnight Sun to pick up the money till so that I can count the money from their opening night.  Then I'll probably just go right home.  Whew!  I haven't heard if anything's happening after either show, but we'll see.

Until later!

Decided to drive the car into town tomorrow.  My weekend train schedule isn't nearly as flexible as the weekday one, and I got a parking reservation for $22 (count 'em) smackers.

Vixmom:  The ICON at 1700 Broadway.  You have to be there by 10 am and out by 10 pm to get that price.

It sounds like DR Ginny had a nice day with former DR Jose, though I would only have wanted to food shop with him ;D

Saw Amelie tonight. It was OK. The sound of the music was definitely not traditional Broadway, not Gallic, but some sort of soft rock that left little impression. I liked a few numbers. The staging was better and more interesting than the show. Not having seen Hsmilton, I did not know Ms Soo, the star, but her disciples were out in full force.

I wonder if it will make it. It is rather gossamer. What She Loves Me might have seemed to another generation. If only Georg had worked in a sex toy shop.
