Well, I guess the Medicare issue is resolved, the payment is covered, and I am a free man.  I let my doctor and the HMO's customer service dept., who told me I was their third call about this today, know that I did not appreciate the scare or waste of my time in trying to address the issue.

What new fresh hell will roll in today?

I read a bunch of "Hello, Dolly!" reviews and they were smashing, save for the Wall Street Journal that BK alerted us to yesterday and which Jrand shared with us this morning.

After reading the other critical reactions, I have to say that the WSJ reviewer seems to think that "Hello, Dolly!" should have more "gravitas" to it than is on the stage in this production.  I got the feeling he was looking for a "Les Miz" effect, or, possibly, something along the lines of "Phantom of the Opera" rather than Jerry Herman's totally wonderful hurdy-gurdy score.

He was particularly harsh about the quality of Midler's voice.   Am wondering if he's ever heard Carol Channing's.

On that note, the Mayor of New York has  really named today "Dolly Day."

According to Alan Scott on ATC, there is a precedent: There was a "Rodgers & Hammerstein Week" in 1953.

Well here's today's fresh hell, so far.  Here's my publisher's website: http://yrmusic.com/v2/home/

If you go to "catalog" and click "browse," then click my name, only two charts show up for me:
http://yrmusic.com/v2/catalog/listing.php?composerID=11

If you go to "Artists," click on "bios," and click my name, you'll get a page with my bio and around 30 charts:
http://yrmusic.com/v2/artists/bios/artist.php?ID=11

WTF?

Under Catalog/Browse, I did a simple browser "find" for "Moore", and your name appears in two sections:  two charts are under Composers and the rest under Arrangers.  Does that account for it, or make the sense it should make?

Edited for (hopefully) clarity.

I see what you mean, but that's terrible organization.

I wish I could get 8 hours of sleep.  Six- to 6-1/2 hours seems to be all I can manage nowadays.

Speaking of fish, my supper last night was fried Pollock (pre-cooked and sold in my grocery store).  I reheated it and at it with relish (i.e., gusto rather than a condiment).

Dead battery.  Auto Club on its way - so, guess I won't be going to Jerry's today since it will be too crowded by the time they deal with this.  Oh, well.

I had them out about eight weeks ago, as you may remember, but they checked the battery, the alternator and the starter and all was well on all of it.  But I knew the battery was weakening then, and it's been weird for the past few days - more difficult to turn over in the mornings, and this morning it tried to turn over but alas wouldn't.  It's still under warranty, so I'm sure they'll just replace it.

I've been through enough of this stuff with the car lately, may it stay stable for a while...

Oddly, I did not find any 3-3/4 ips tapes on the shelf.  The Szell ones I was thinking might have been that were 7-1/2, and I checked every last tape (I only have some 60 or 70).  Either I'm wrong that I ever picked up a couple, or I simply got rid of them.

Superstar book reviewed, hopefully for the last damned time, and I'll just run through the setups again when I get there...also hopefully for the last damned time.

I guess my problem is that I am not usually at work on Fridays, having taken so many of them "off" that past two months.

Trapped at work is what I am.  Trapped and tormented by work-required attendance in the office.

I hate car problems.

I love my mechanics, though.  They're fast and they're reasonable.

No one has mentioned this yet, but has anyone been affected by power outages in NYC or LA?

Here in the Bay Area, our rapid transit system was impacted by a power outage that affected about 90,000 people.

It seems that some hackery has been involved.

I ask about LA and NYC because I read that there were problems there, too.

My d****d elevator was out again last night.

I despair, I declare!

My neighbor (president of the HOA) told me it "might" be up when I get home tonight.  That's what she told me last week, too.   It has to do with getting parts and then making the parts "work" on the board they are putting together to run the elevator.

Sigh.
