THE CALLING BIRDS

Well, you've read the notes, the notes have called you, you've called the notes and now it is time for you to post until the calling cows come home (they called to say they'd be late).

Good morning, all!  Oy!  Christmas is almost here and I'm not at all ready.  My good intentions about putting lists together failed, so today's the day.

I'm having lunch with Bruce Pomahac of The Rodgers & Hammmerstein Organization today, which will be fun, and I've got to hit the post office to send off various sundries.

TOD:
CDs of 2004?  Since I've purchased next to nothing since June, I have no idea what was issued this year!  My Dear Friend BK sent me a copy of Haines His Way early in 2004 because I could not find my copy, and it's become the most played recording in this apartment building.  Others I'm pretty certain came out this year are these:
FINE AND DANDY
RON RAINES: SO IN LOVE WITH BROADWAY
INFINIMENT: JACQUES BREL
THE PRODIGAL SON (Sir Arthur Sullivan)

Just caught up on the end of last night's posts,
DR Ann health vibes and support vibes coming your way  at 9:16 AM EST...and being a goof Lutheran Sunday School teacher , I said a little prayer as well.

td , same for your mom, and Jose for your dad.

Thank you all fo the chicken soup recipes, I shall be trying quite a few of them out but I  admit I was feeling so worn out at the end of the day I settled for the old reliable Lipton soup .

My favorite CD was "Over the Next Hill" by Fairport Convention

Hmmmmmmmmmm......I hope the calling birds do not rack up too much in roaming charges.  If you are going to buy your love calling birds, I think they had better be local-calling birds.  Something to think about.  Something to shout about.

Perhaps since movie-making has become so much of a technical art, the director had to do something to justify his HUGE salary, and doing a backstory was something he had heard about, and couldn't wait to do it.  And hiring people to be friends of Miss Jada Pinkett Smith is probably the only way he could get people to talk to her - or people she would ALLOW to talk to her, she is a VERY famous and beautiful actress, you know.  And she and her husband Will are the tippy top of Hollywood elite....to hear them tell it.

Last night on HBO I watched a movie called LOVE ACTUALLY, which may have been discussed here earlier this year.

It was NOT the greatest movie in the world, but I enjoyed it.  Nice London locations, some good people in the cast, and so many stories that it held my interest for 135 minutes.  It will be available on DVD in February, 2005, and I may have to buy it.  Although, it's Christmas theme may be a major part of its appeal to me at this time of the year.  Many stories taking place simultaneously, and all coming to an end on Christmas Eve - with an epilog.  NOT THE GREATEST FILM EVER, but a nice film with some fun music (dropped in AND composed.).

This is already available on DVD, I rented it about a month or so ago.  I agree not a classic but a nice relaxing fun to watch  film.

Hmmmmmmmmmm CD releases in 2004....hmmmmmmmm....I bought a lot of CD's that were previously released.....music by Bobby Darin, Sue Thompson, Patsy Cline, and Doris Day.

My two favorites - right now - would be Bette Midler, "The Rosemary Clooney Songbook" and "Phantom of the Opera" soundtrack.

DR MBARNUM
You had had New Year’s foods !? How nice!
My mother makes them every year but I don’t…as it’s so conplicated and took time to make them.
Are you a fan of Godzilla like Dear BK?  I’ve never seen Godzilla movie but I know many boys (not only little boys but grown up boys like you and BK) love Godzilla in Japan, too.
Now am watching a commercial program for Godzilla movie on TV, at midnight.

I am not as familiar with what CDs were released this year other then Doris Day's APRIL IN PARIS soundtrack, which I purchased.

I did buy every Amr Diab CD I could get my hands on, however...but I don't know when they were released in the US of A.

Hisaka, I love sushi!

And of course a CD of songs by and enjoyed by Benjamin Kritzer, and a bootleg of a audition CD for a musical called BUS & TRUCK.

What's the status of the WHAT IF DVD's?

Last night on HBO I watched a movie called LOVE ACTUALLY,

I think it was actually released last April.

Do you think they cut out a lot of Rowan Atkinson's scenes?  It seemed to me from the store & airport  scenes that HE was supposed to be one of the "Angels walking among us" and that he should have popped up in a few more places than he did.  The deleted scene section of the DVD  didn't have any more, but they may have been cut from the script before they were even filmed.

Good morning, fellow Dear Readers.

I suppose I should do something to prepare for the upcoming holiday. So I suppose that's number one on my list for today.

Welcome new DR (Dear Reader) Alex. We are so glad you have joined us.

Good health vibes to Ann and Jose's dad.

TOD: I bought "Wicked" this year, but I didn't listen to it. It went with DR Sandra to listen to on the trip to the family reunion, and I haven't seen it since. I think that's the only CD I bought this year.

DR JOSE: So glad you are really familiar with Japanese food. I wonder how you know such numbers of Japanese dishes.
Actually there are many restaurants having “chicken sashimi” and “medium roast chicken” on their menu as special dishes in Tokyo, too, although I’ve never never had them…
Hope you enjoy Japanese foods and Sake now and then.

I think for me, I got WICKED and AVENUE Q last year, so I can't include them.

I have been delighted this year to get a number of reissues of cast albums that I never thought would make it to CD: LOOK MA, I'M DANCIN', ANKLES AWAY, ARMS AND THE GIRL, etc. Amazing that these were reissued.

I was very happy with Clay Aiken's MERRY CHRISTMAS WITH LOVE holiday CD. He winds his powerful voice around some holiday songs, and the ones I had never heard before like the title track and "Mary, Did You Know" I really liked.

Unless something new comes in the mail today that I can't resist, I will resume with the MICKEY MOUSE CLUB DVD today.

Glad you bought it, DR JRand. I think it will bring back memories (even if you never saw these particular episodes or excerpts), and I found the shows I've seen thoroughly enjoyable.
