I am packed for my trip, except for a couple of items I forgot to pack.  The only problem is where to put them.  It seems I have packed more stuff for three days in L.A. than I did for my week in Maryland and New York.  Fortunately some of the items packed will be left in L.A.  The goal will be to not substitute new items.

For two days we have been trying to call Craig in Romania.  All we got was a sound of a wind tunnel and then the noise a fax machine makes.  He read our emails and called this evening, 1:00 AM his time.  He could hear us fine but it was very difficult to hear him.  I did find out his plane arrives in L.A. on Monday at 12:45PM.  Mine leaves at 2:45.  If I’m very, very lucky I shall get to see him for a few minutes.  If I’m incredibly lucky it will be longer.

I was tempted to stay in L.A. longer and fly home with him but I need to give Bogie his fluids and move my stuff from his room back into ours before he returns.

I didn't buy many cds this year. The ones that I did were not anything special and somewhat disappointing. I did get Peter Cincotti new CD and I hated it. Really disappointed. He is going the way of Michael Feinstein who after getting his notices forgot about his roots that made his first few cds so memorable. The world doesn;t need another one as judging from his first cd I liked him better.

DR MS - isn't Peter Cincotti traveling around playing the piano for Kevin Spacey on his Bobby's Not Dead tour?  I think I read that in a review of one of the concerts.

THE APPRENTICE.....don't watch it.  Watch MXC on Spike!

DRPANNI can YOU see any Hollywood landmarks from your abode?

DRELMORE how about you - can you see any NYC landmarks from your apt?

AND WHERE ARE THE PHOTOS OF CHRISTMAS TREES?

Here's a question for whenever Tom from Oz gets here (or anyone else who can answer): I need the name of a good Australian online place to order region 4 DVDs from.

As DRsJane and Ben can attest, the only view from my window is Holy Trinity, the beautiful Catholic church actoss from me.  It's been covered in scaffolding (sandblasting, I think) for the past three months, but I think they're taking it all down to decorate the church for Christmas.  It's usually quite beautiful with greenery and thinhs.

Spent time tonight watching MR. MAGOO'S CHRISTMAS CAROL. I saw that it was coming on Comedy Central, but I had the DVD that I don't think I've ever watched all the way through and definitely not on my HDTV.

I was startled by how good this very old cartoon program looked. Almost no dirt on the print, and the colors were rich. Really very impressed with how it looked. Mono sound, of course, but it was still looking better than a show this old has any business looking.

I haven't gotten around to SCROOGE this Christmas or IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE or WHITE CHRISTMAS or HOLIDAY INN or MIRACLE ON 34th STREET. I've got a lot of TV watching to do over the next few days (and two parties to attend this weekend).

Got really angry today reading the review of the Julie Andrews CINDERELLA in ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY.

The reviewer said he could understand why jack Warner didn't give Julie Andrews the film role in MY FAIR LADY after seeing her in this live show: said she rushed her lines and the cameras gave her a lantern jaw. His contention was that Disney experts could soften her facial features and make her cinematically appealing. Just ludicrous!

Huh? Rushed her lines? Poppycock!

Region 4 DVDS. I would get them from the UK!! We have the same system. If it is an Australian issue I would recommend "Readings Books" in Melbourne as being reliable. They do have a WEBSITE. "Readings" is one one of the most successful independ book/CD/DVd retailers in Australia and are surviving well against the likes of Borders and internet sellers like Amazon.

I just don't think about "regions" when I buy Cds as virtually all video and DVD hardware sold here is multizone.

Hope that is helpful BK.  Newbie Alex might have some suggestions.

DRPANNI can YOU see any Hollywood landmarks from your abode?

Well, from my back window I can see the back of Chinoiserie, where everybody who's anybody gets their nails done. (They even have an autographed pic on Mae West on the wall.)
From the back stairs I can see the sign of California Pizza Kitchen. If that ain't a landmark, I don't know what is!

I'm a little angry at my abode right now. I stupidly did not notice when I rented the place that it only has one main closet and a hall closet. There is also an open alcove area in the Master Bedroom with a built-in dresser. I suspect this at one time was a closet. Sooo, I solved the missing closet problem by putting a clothes rack in the alcove. No problem. Well, tonight, dead tired, in anticipation of DD's visit, I was clearing space in the main closet by moving some things that I wear frequently from there to the bedroom clothes rack. Everything was going quite well -- until the fershluganah rack collapsed! Arrrrrghhhh!
