Well, you've read the notes, the notes were finished and moved into the theatre, and now it is time for you to post until the theatre cows come home.

The Rake's Progress runs about 150 minutes or so and was originally on three LPs.  Mint copies of that original LP set go for hundreds of dollars.

Well, good night, Tom.  I need to go to sleep now.  I agreed to pick up a coworker from the airport and then we'll both go to work.  Her flight comes in at 9:00 am, so I'll have to leave by 7:30...7:45 at the absolute latest.

Have a good day, all!

This is my day to pack, vacuum and mop the floors, launder the throw rugs, and see how far I get in Guys & Dolls Act One.

I've been awake since around 5:30, and High Anxiety is settling in.  My love for travel has long passed me by, and I hope this trip goes smoothly.

BK, The Rake's Progress is one of my all-time favorite operas.  I saw Jonathan Miller's mediocre production at the Met in the early 1990s when my neighbor replaced Dawn Upshaw as Anne Trulove.  I first heard it around 1965 when the 2nd Stravinsky recording was released on LP, and that cast is still my favorite.  Judith Raskin is perfect as Anne, and John Reardon is still my favorite Nick Shadow.

The score, which is sorta like hearing Mozart, Gluck, Bellini through a funhouse mirror, is simply glorious.  I think the second scene in Mother Goose's brothel has the best music, but Anne's Act One closer is a real showstopper, and Baba the Turk;s "The milkmaid haunts me" always makes me laugh.
