Thanks for all of the good vibes.  Keith continues to improve.  He managed a low key work out at the gym today and we went for a nice walk.  I remain apprehensive but ok.

I think I am ready to depart tomorrow. Music printed, bags packed, passport and flight info, several books.  Not bad.

And on that note (A-natural), I'm leaving work early.  I'm going to my sister's to help her move a couple of heavy pieces of furniture downstairs into her garage from her upstairs bedrooms.  It shouldn't be too difficult.  It's just not something that she and her daughter can do on their own.  Then, I'll go home.

Be back later.

Then I went to the theater and said hi to everyone and watched lighting stuff for a while.  Then I picked up packages and now I'm home for the duration.

Appt. went well....they covered up the marks with little adhesive circles so I can't really see the art work.

Have another order for blood work.  Another appt. tomorrow with the blood doctor and another iron infusion....which means more blood work.

It's never ending right now.

DR Laura, your quote made me laugh out loud. I wondered the same thing when I first listened to the show.

In honor of Ode to Billy Joe arriving in the mail today, I'm watching Our Town with Robby Benson and Glynnis O'Connor as well as Sada Thompson, Barbara Bel Geddes, Hal Holbrook, Ronny Cox, John Houseman, Ned Beatty, Charlotte Rae and more. I remember when this was first broadcast on TV back in the late 1970s. It was the year we read the play in high school.

Also in this package from the library is the Spalding Gray version that also had Frances Conroy, Penelope Ann Miller and Eric Stolz. I missed that one when it was broadcast in 1989.

Back from a WONDERFUL afternoon concert of Lerner and Loewe.

When I looked at the program I was thrilled to see the generous number of songs being presented.  I didn't recall if DR Elmore had said that the instrumental ensemble would be only five players -- piano, bass, cello, woodwinds, and drums -- but they were wonderful and the arrangements were beautiful.  The ensemble sounded like a chamber orchestra here, a full orchestra there, and I loved unique touches such as cello only (as a duet with vocalist) on "Before I Gaze at You Again", and Rob Berman joining at the piano for a four-hands "With a Little Bit of Luck".  Some especially beautiful vocal arrangements included a male/male duet of "How to Handle a Woman" followed by a female/female duet of "I Loved You Once in Silence".  Stunningly and almost hypnotically beautiful moments, these.

Did Rob write his own narration/commentary?  Here's yet another thing he makes look so damned effortless.  It was fascinating throughout, and there was generous audience reaction upon hearing various and sundry facts and revelations about the lives and careers of Messrs. Lerner and Loewe.  The orchestrators received enthusiastic applause, and it was a beautiful concert all around.
