A couple of free hours before it'll be time to get ready for my matinee.

We do the Tomie dePaola show this afternoon and tomorrow afternoon only.  The invited "abbey night" dress rehearsal was mostly pretty good last night, and the nuns loved it.  They were especially thrilled to see Mr. dePaola who has a long history there.  And it was nice for me to see a few of them that I'd gotten to know a little bit last summer.

I was sleeping well, then had a panic attack about the NYMF show and could not get back to sleep.  My schedule is now off and I am not happy about that.

If the elevator is running, I have three things to accomplish today and tomorrow: laundry, finishing Guys & Dolls, and making a dent in this NYMF show.

DR Ginny, the omens for your Chicago trip are not good.  I hope things improve.

The two matinees are just about sold out, so that's good for everyone.  And it's nice to have the evenings free.  An unusual situation, but this was an experimental thing for them to take on and I'm glad it's a success for them.

It has been wonderful meeting Mr. dP. and working with both him and Mother DH.

And, oh my...  my passing on DR Ginny's librarian's greetings to him, which really delighted him, is taking on apocryphal dimensions.  He apparently related that greeting to the director, who included it in her introductory speech to the sisters last night, and the number of librarians I seem to know has already increased by leaps and bounds!   :)

At this rate, today I'll probably hear I'm delivering the keynote address to the ALA...

I have also passed on DR TCB's greetings and admiration to Mother Dolores, and she is more warmly gracious and happy in receiving these than you would ever imagine.

Edit:  She's one unique woman, and it's kind of a heady experience to be with the two of them in the knowledge that they've known each other since her early visits to the abbey while still an actress.

I got in at 7 to try and get ahead of things, I am so glad I did because I never would have gotten done.  Also my lovely co workers ( who spent most of Thursday doing my work ) pitched in and between we three we got done what needed to be done and I was out of office by 6

How did they have time to help out with your work?  Is this possibly a sign that they don't have enough work to fill their regular day normally, while you may have more than your share?   or are they just extremely nice people?   (or both?)

We all have our own clients and files for some reason 15 of mine suddenly decided on Thursday ( while I was out ) that they HAD to close next week , while my coworkers clients sensibly all decided to go on vacation

I'm up, I'm up - I doubt I slept more than three hours.  I've been fighting congestion and a scratchy throat all week, due to the two nights of no sleep.  The scratchy throat kind of went away, but last night I had a bad cough, chest congestion and just one of those things that keeps me from sleeping, always thinking I have to clear my throat. So, tonight it's NyQuil and all day I'll do Sambucol and the other stuff I do.

WHY does my  autocorrect insist on "correcting" "for" to "fir"?   Do my posts somehow exude a forestry air?

Vixmom, I'm glancing over the history of Texas Roadhouse on Wiki.  Interesting stuff.  Can't wait for my first time, which draws ever nearer...

TOD:
My first crush was on a guy named Ethan, whom I met at a Jewish camp I went to every year. He lived far away, so I never saw him again - he never went to that camp again. But on the bus that was taking us back to our towns, we sat together and laughed the entire time. We had these little dolls that we made of ourselves (I don't remember why) and he kept smashing them together like they were voodoo dolls and he wanted them to make out, which was a bit provocative because we were only 10 years old. Hey, maybe I can find him on Facebook!

I never really had a movie crush, but my first TV crush (and really only TV crush) was on David Cassidy.

Before I run out of here, my little (very little) story about my stay at the Palmer House...

This was in the early '90s and I was in Chicago for a one- or two-night stay for a business convention or something.  On this particular occasion I should have just stayed at the Hyatt or wherever most of the activities were going on, but I'd always had a hankering for trying the Palmer House.  So I went off on my own there, checked in, and while I loved the old but then-faded elegance of the public areas, I found the section with my room in it to be in obvious need of some upgrading.  But no problem.  I'm here for the "experience", right?  They were busy and I took my own bags up to the room.

As I began unpacking, something felt "off".  Don't ask me why I wasn't immediately aware of what it was, but I wasn't.  Apparently I hadn't walked into the bathroom yet, because that would certainly have been a shock.  Anyway, I'd decided to put some of my clothes into a drawer, which I didn't always do but I wanted to this time.....and there was somebody else's socks and underwear.  It took a moment for the meaning of this to sink in, and I then went to the bathroom to discover personal stuff all over the place.  Ay yi yi...

Thank GAWD no one had been in there when I unlocked the door (with the old-fashioned key) and walked in.  I quickly gathered my stuff and went back to the desk, gave them the key, and told them they'd just put me in an occupied room.  They fixed it immediately, of course, and escorted me to a new room with a bellhop going in ahead of me to inspect it.  But...wow.
