I had two extra long walks today.  Even though I splurged and had an ice cream cone on the way home from the second walk, I shall double splurge and have pop corn.

In my experience the collar is always good for a more respectful and conciliatory attitude , short of that I'd suggest he used "reverend" rather than doctor.  People assume doctors are rich, and ministers are not
