Voldemort is basically a middle school girl: he has a locket, a diary, a tiara, a ring, and is completely obsessed with a teenage boy.

I have an appointment with one of my doctors this morning at 9:00.  I will leave here around 7:30, and I hope to be home by 10:30.  We'll see.

Temperatures are going up to the 90s today and it's going to be humid since rain is forecast.  Once I am home, I'm going nowhere but to my desk.  I am in the middle of "The Pirates Lament" at the moment.

Most of my week is spent on the NYMF show.  I believe that on Friday we will finish Guys & Dolls so that we can turn it in to Music Theatre  International.

I'm finding Katy Perry's song "Firework" is a better song that i'd first recalled.

But i'm still not sure that the word "Firework" isn't an awkward title.

Our office is not closed today but it should be a relatively slow day as I have been advised by nearly every other law firm we spoke with last week that they were closed today

Ginny, I have often used that line myself.  i also remember once rather indignantly (and possibly heretically) telling the Pastor that unless Jesus was prepared to whip out another miracle a la the loaves and fishes he should have thanked Martha for doing all the work preparing dinner instead of chastising her for not listening

DRs Ginny and Vixmom, I tell people my take-away from the Martha story is that even Martha needs the opportunity to take a break sometimes. Why didn't the men -- who had heard the teachings many times -- get up and do some of the work?

Do you really have to ask DR LAURA?

Remember your Bible history often states:  "One thousand men were killed......also women and children......"

Is this a terrible terrible song....and is the dancing too contemporary for the time period....and does EVERYONE have to style and profile when they sing?

Or is it just me?

DR JANE yes, I have today on with radiation/chemo and tomorrow off....they have added a day to the end of the schedule.

I have received conflicting information about taking the pills tomorrow, so I am going to ask today.

That's horrible, DR Jrand66!  Your neighbor state to the right is the veritable Land o' Plenty when it comes to Frisch's Big Boys.  Not only that, but the Brawny Lad and other Big Boy traditions are alive and well.

I was going to say I don't recall anything specific enough about school cafeteria food, but DR Jrand66 reminds me of some.  It's amazing how prevalent the fish on Friday thing was.  For us in Ohio and Florida it was fish sticks, not sandwiches.  Calendars always had a little fish symbol on Fridays to remind us of the needs of those "exotic" Catholics -- Catholics being about as exotic as things got in Columbus, Ohio of the 1950s.  :)

I think I remember the only drink available in elementary school being the little half-pint cartons of milk.  Don't recall other dishes, specifically, but I'm sure Sloppy Joes were among them.  And there was no particular choice about what to eat -- you either brought your lunch (but still paid your nickel for the damned milk) or you ate whatever was on the plate they handed you.

Remember those flavored milk straws?  Strawberry was my favorite.  My sister and I (who never much loved the taste of milk) started taking them to school to drink the milk through.

The memory that's always stayed with me was entering high school (tenth grade then) when it seemed a whole new world opened up in the cafeteria, because we were actually offered CHOICES of things to eat, and now you could have a hamburger!  Iced tea (already sweetened) was a drink choice, and I bet I had plenty of hamburger and iced tea lunches there.  They had those items every day, regardless of whatever else was available.  My friends and I went on about wonderful it was that here they finally treated you like adults in giving you those choices.  I think the only things available for those burgers were mustard and ketchup, but I can still almost picture them -- and the iced tea -- and remember how good they tasted.

I know we didn't have Shepherd's Pie.  It was years later that I was introduced to that.

I'm sure there was macaroni, which I'll bet was pretty awful.

And Sloppy Joes.  I just wish I could remember them.  I'd be really curious to know what they actually tasted like.  I love 'em now, but we only make them ourselves a couple of times a year.  They aren't something you find on a lot of menus anymore, so I think these qualify as both cafeteria memories and (somewhat)-disappeared foods.
