I never got to know any Bruckner, so it's great to hear some of you liking it and I will get on it sometime.
However, a few days ago something reminded me of a few of Eugen Jochum's recordings that I used to have and - I think - liked quite well, notably Mahler's Das Lied von der Erde and even his Carmina Burana, though no one's can touch the few top few of those for me. But I can well imagine his Bruckner recordings being excellent.
And yes, that sound. I'd recently reacquainted myself with the overall beauty of Deutsche Grammophon recordings of the 1960s and early 1970s, and man, they can be exquisite.
