At Half Price Books today, I found the Jay recording of Man of La Mancha, which I didn't know existed. I'll listen to it as soon as I finish listening to Don Quixote (disc 19 of 34).

Sat down on the couch like so much fish, held the remote, and promptly fell asleep for an hour.

Well, Contemporary Color started out good, but somewhere along the way, the directors lost interest in filming the color guards in any intelligent way. We get plenty of the musicians and the backstage people and artsy shots of arms twirling flags but little of the dancing/movement.

Forgot to mention, I got a great residual today for The Ghastly Love of Johnny X - fifty cents.

Don't spend it all in one place, BK!

Just more evidence that great minds think alike, DR Ginny, for I was going to offer BK this very same advice.

Had my second Freshly meal o' the day - barbecue chicken breast on a sweet potato mash and some kind of veggies - it was very good - not my favorite of the six, but still very good.  It's so weird to me to eat two meals a day, but at 1100 calories at some point I assume I'll lose weight.

Got through the four Rachmaninov piano concertos - I don't know the first and fourth hardly at all, but this set is just wonderful - I'll talk about it in the notes.  I am having SUGAR WITHDRAWAL something fierce.

How was the matinee?

It had a smallish, but quite responsive, audience!

Well, today is the Hairspray two-show day!  We will have just about an hour in between the two shows...and that's it.  That's really not enough down time, but it's what we got.  Pray for Rosemary's Babies!

;)

Vibes you maintain the energy required without downtime.

Thanks, Jane!  I think we gave two pretty good performances today!

Had our final run-through - nine people here and the reaction was amazing - every laugh landed, every bit of patter landed, the songs landed - Kay went up a couple of times in the patter but handled it just right, having fun and being funny.  I think she was a bit shocked how loud some of the laughs are - and the opening number is one of the best I've ever seen in what it actually achieves - it got huge laughs and it isn't a funny song.

Congrats to Kay!  And Good Luck for the performance(s)!

Is that the one with Kim Criswell?  I love her!

Not too long ago, I got the Belgian Cast recording of Man of La Mancha.  I haven't had time to listen to it, yet.  I finally will this week.

I found my VHS tape of Man of La Mancha, which was the very first musical that I was in in Olympia, and it was at the Capitol Theater where Hairspray is performing now!  I'm recording it to my DVD burner so that I can have it on DVD.
