I have finished listening to the OBCR of Amélie and I must say that I really liked it.  I don't think I can say that I "loved" it, but I really did enjoy it.  I liked the style and the breezy nature of the music.  I enjoyed the singers.  I will definitely listen to this again.  I know that John saw the show and didn't care it, but I've said before that my standards aren't too high. ;) Maybe it's just a case of "I don't know what's good, but I know what I like."  Just my 2˘.

And on that note (A for Amélie), I'm off to my parents' house for our weekly family dinner.  It's my first in almost a month because of Hairspray!  We're having tacos!

After dinner, I'm meeting my friend Margo and we're going to see the 10 pm showing of "Dunkirk" in IMAX (not 3D, though)!

Glad you enjoyed Amelie, George. I want to give it a second chance, but it didn't work for me in the theater.

Trying to decide if I want to even go to the theater - I guess I should, since I know a few people.  As of this morning, it looked like a very light house, but so did last Friday and we ended up with about forty-five, which is a half house.  Tomorrow looks even worse, just as it did last week, and we ended up with almost sixty.  Sunday is decent, around thirty, which is about what it was last Sunday and we ended up with close to seventy for that one.  Which proves one thing:  No one books in advance - ever.  They'd rather wait until the last possible second or even just show up without a reservation.  Of course if they do that, they're paying full price.

12 members of my book group gathered at Katie's last night for a potluck dinner and to discuss A Man Called Ove and watch the movie.  We usually do this in August, but Katie will be out of town then and she has the best house for it.

Did you prefer the movie or the book?  I read another book by the author at had mixed feelings about the writing.

I thought book dragged in the middle, but I cried at the end.  We didn't have the ideal movie-watching conditions last night.  It's in Swedish, of course, with subtitles and the DVD Sharon brought from the library had some flaws.  We missed portions of a couple of scenes.  Also, there were 11 other women in the room and Katie kept getting phone calls about plumbing problems at their bed & breakfast in Oxford.

Not good regarding the film which we enjoyed very much.

Great news about the elevator, Elmore.

I'll be happier when the laundry is finished!

I suppose I shall now be on my way to the theater - not for long, though. I'll meet and greet, see the top of the show, and then come home.

Back from a brief visit to theater to say hi to a few people.  Considering how light we were this morning - we had about fifty-something people there, so a very nice crowd.  Some moron who was in the booth while we were gone did something to the amp, switching an input, and the gal who runs sound couldn't figure it out, of course - thankfully the sound designer was around and he came and saw what it was right away.  I suggested that the booth either be locked or big signs put on the equipment - DO NOT TOUCH OR YOU WILL BE KILLED.  Stopped at Gelson's and got the small salad bar salad - few calories and filling, so I haven't even thought about my second Freshly meal - once I eat that I'll be around 1100 or 1200 calories, which is fine.

Is it chicken risotto or is it steak peppercorn - that is the question.

Listening to, of all things, The Nutcracker on Mercury, recorded on 35mm film - amazingly clear sound and great conducting by Antal Dorati.  Why not?

And I continue the Boulez Mahler - really liked the first symphony and went along with the second, even though it's very different.  The third isn't much to my liking, but I'm not sure why.
