It's getting very windy.  Apparently rain is coming.

I am definitely a pack rat. A pack rat trying to be a minimalist. (Small apartment.) An interesting experiment.

I have learned not to throw away a single draft on writing projects until the final project is COMPLETED.

As for everyday stuff, how do I know what I'll need in the future? There are some cases where if there's any doubt, I keep it. Tax stuff, for instance.

As to books, that's a tough one. There was a time when I'd NEVER throw out any books. I love books. But real estate is too expensive today to keep everything. I found a library nearby that accepts book/CD/DVD donations. (Not all of them do, which surprised me.) I now periodically weed through my books and donate.  I try many new authors and few rate additional purchases. Those are donated.

I also hate waste. And there is SO MUCH of it! I hang onto many things that others would toss because there's a good chance that I'll need it. (Really!)

And then there's the stuff that you weren't trying to save--you just haven't had the time to go through it yet. AKA the Accumulation. Ah, yes.

The laundry is in the washers. It's been so long since I've been to the basement, it's like another country.

 :)

I'm very glad to hear that the elevator is working again and that you can do your laundry. And to make your life easier in general.

I just realized: we have two recently empty apartments, one was rented by an elderly man now in a nursing home and one by a young lady who moved elsewhere.  The landlord cannot rent these apartments while the elevator is not working.

It's been a costly episode for your landlord.

I think the physical therapy has helped. The exercises are certainly effective. But there's still pain in the hip.

I'm glad to hear it's helping. Traditional PT doesn't help everyone. You may want to take a look at Ming Chew's THE PERMANENT PAIN CURE. He's a PT who wasn't helped by traditional PT, but found other ways to address his pain. I use many of the suggestions in his book, which I learned the hard way because PT didn't help me.

I'm taking it very easy today. Got a lot of movies to watch, naps to take, books to read.

That sounds heavenly.

Enjoy your day!

DUNKIRK is getting a lot of press and great reviews. Sounds like a must-see movie.

Seems like three times a week now the Internet goes down in the middle of the night and then the router can't find the modem and I have to unplug stuff in the morning and get it working again.  The problem is, when Spectrum does this crap no back-ups occur, and Netflix doesn't work and takes a while to find the server after I turn it on - really irritating and I think the next time it happens I will give them a call.

I am, except the two movies so far are less than perfect. The Sense of an Ending had great performances from Jim Broadbent and cast, but the script was irritating. Two Women has wonderful scenes of 19th century upper class life and a great story, but the sound (everyone's dubbed over like an Italian movie and their voices seem to be coming from off screen) is so distracting that I'm focusing too much on the subtitles and not the actors.

I got to disc 32 of 34 in Don Quixote, and it expired. The library won't let me renew it. There's a reservation on it. I have a copy of the book, but the translation is different. Will try to finish reading it, but it all seems so strange.

With only 2 discs to go, I'd keep it until it's finished and pay the overdue fines.  Librarian advice...

Britten's version of The Beggar's Opera is still my favorite version of this difficult comedy.  I was very proud of my 1979 production, assisted by our DR Ginny.

Here are two production shots.

Loved helping with that show!  I got very sick with bronchitis, though, and missed a lot of rehearsals - sorry, DR Elmore...

I do not remember your absence at all.

Keep an eye out for any info on that Labor Day Carmon DeLeone concert. I Still want to get back to Ohio for it.

We have a flier on the fridge that says the concert is Sunday, September 3, 6:30pm, at Woodside Arboretum, with a rain date of Monday, September 4.

Great pictures, Larry!  And the other two that you posted, too!

Good advice, or you could burn your own copies of the last two discs, or at least rip them to MP3 files.  There are options. :)

I prefer not to think of myself as a pack rat. I merely tell myself, I am not a minimalist.

I am bordering on hoarders territory. ::)

Is there a musical in this?

Yes. And Rupert Holmes should write it.

I wonder if they both said "Aw, it's you" and they laughed for a moment when they saw each other?

Thanks, DR JRand.  She has no memory of falling last evening and her nurse Angie says her blood pressure is stable and she cleaned her plate at lunch.  Also, she's had a perm since I saw her last Sunday and looks a lot better.
