I'd watch the movie version of THE LAST STARFIGHTER tonight, but my wife hates sci-fi.

 :(

Actually, I'm not a big sci-fi fan myself, but this one is fun.

I'm up to No. 10 in the drum book. Time for a dinner break.

I like your photos DR ELMORE.

Vibes for the MOM of DR GINNY.

Thanks, DR JRand.  She has no memory of falling last evening and her nurse Angie says her blood pressure is stable and she cleaned her plate at lunch.  Also, she's had a perm since I saw her last Sunday and looks a lot better.

I apologize that I missed the part about your mother falling.  I'm glad all is well now, or as well as can be.

Maybe if she gave it a try she would like it.

I got to disc 32 of 34 in Don Quixote, and it expired. The library won't let me renew it. There's a reservation on it. I have a copy of the book, but the translation is different. Will try to finish reading it, but it all seems so strange.

With only 2 discs to go, I'd keep it until it's finished and pay the overdue fines.  Librarian advice...

I couldn't. It was an electronic checkout. Otherwise, I'd have followed suit.

I just finished read the book. It was hard to get the reader out of my head, even though the translations were so different.

Does an audio eBook work the same as a regular eBook?  As long as you shut down the internet connection they can't take back your eBook.

I don't think so. It kept track of how many days were left and told me it was expired. That's it. It was gone.

Perhaps I just don't know how to turn off the Internet on the phone.

True, but if it's on a device like a phone, he probably couldn't have kept the connection disconnected long enough to finish the rest of the audio book.  If he had it on something like an iPod or other non-Internet or wi-fi enabled device, then it wouldn't be a problem.

I am lucky I can work off of Keith's account as well as mine.  Sometimes I set it up so the next person to get the book is Keith's account, then I can check it out immediately if the book expires.

John, do you have the option to get library cards from other library systems in your state?  We have agreements with other libraries  where Timberland patrons can get library privileges, including access to their OverDrive collections!  If they also have the same titles (and they're available), you could finish it from the other library's copy.  Also, you could get titles that your library might not have purchased, but another library did.  It's quite a deal!

And Jane, now that you live in Washington, your library might allow you to access Timberland's collection!

You can get other library cards -- for a fee. I think it's $15 for San Antonio for a year. Don't know what it would be elsewhere.

Watching Julie Taymor's version of The Tempest with Helen Mirren as Prospera. I'm not thrilled with the first half hour.

Been listening to the Boulez Mahler - through the fifth symphony.  This is a mighty strange set, but there's much to enjoy - not everything works for me, but the music is just so amazing.

TOD:
I used to be the opposite of a pack rat and threw away a lot of sentimental stuff I wish later I hadn't (like all my junior and high school year books). Then I bought a house and the lid sort of blew off that whole mentality. Now we have so much stuff I dread the day we'll have to move. I wouldn't say we're packrats per se, but it's just the natural accumulation of stuff after having lived in a house for more than ten years. And there's so many things we buy, like electronics, that come with extra cables and stuff we don't need, but I feel compelled to save them all. And if by some crazy chance I actually needed one of those cables some day, I wouldn't know I had it, and I'd probably go buy one anyway, so I really should just throw all the cables away.

I was thinking those twits from EVAN HANSON should try.....to write....that musical.....

I'll stick with with the guy who's already written it, albeit on a slightly different level in the Pina Colada Song.

This why you read all The posts before posting

I think I have only once looked at my high school yearbooks since graduation -- and that was to show someone a picture of the singer Joan Osborne. I worked on them in junior and senior years, and I know them all too well to look back at them. But I have kept them.
