Hello!  I'm reporting from Creative Cauldron in Falls Church, Va.  I'm here to see Sandy Bainum's "Simply" show !  Just saw her for a minute before the show. She gave me a big hug and said "Bruce will be glad to hear you showed up!"   Hope to take a photo after the show.

Sounds like fun. Enjoy.

I shall now be on my way to sup and then see Dial 'M' with the likes of Kay Cole and her hubs.

WTF DR ELMORE?

Okay. I spoke to the composer and we are going with the new key from today.  I will go back to my old chart Orchestration No. 1 and copy new violin and clarinet parts tomorrow.  They have a copy of the synth book from orchestration No. 1 and they are transposing it as I type this. Hopefully, this is the end!

Here's to an end of the key changes.

Do you think Alec Baldwin really believes SABRINA and GUNFIGHT AT THE OK CORRAL were made after SOME LIKE IT HOT, or is he just reading it?

I'm back from Sandy's concert.  She sang songs from her "Simply" album and was wonderful.  SHe gave a nice shoutout to Bruce.  We took a photo after the show. I put it on Facebook and am wondering if one of my HHW Facebook friends could post it here?

It's wonderfully cool tonight.  I had the windows down in the car on the way home.  No A/C needed!  First time in a long time!

Watching an odd series called Five Fables based on some poems of Seamus Heaney that were, in turn, based on Aesop's Fables.

Each tale is animated but the story framed with interviews with Heaney, the producers, the composer, the animators and Billy Connolly, who narrates each story. Heaney's poetry is wonderful, but the interviews are surprisingly terrific. This was one of Heaney's last projects before he died, and he's a joy to listen to.

In the supporting cast is Charles Laughton, who plays a key role in Sailor and Fiddler, Herman Wouk's memoir written around the time he turned 100. I started listening to it this morning. It's a short book, but it's fascinating, and his storytelling skills have distilled to a focus that's just about perfect.

What!  There is a Herman Wouk book I have not heard of or read!!!!
Actually, there are a number of his books I haven't read, all of which my library doesn't have.  He wrote soooo many books.  I need to purchase his memoir.

Again, it's very short but it's quite good. Is he still alive?

He is still alive at age 102. Bless him.

Amazing 😊

Thanks for all the travel vibes and wishes for my cousin's birthday.  The bus ride was uneventful and roomy, so the travel vibes worked!

The celebration was lovely, though the service in the restaurant was slow.

Survived Fiddler on the Roof, and am FINALLY home relaxing and basking in the glow of having several free ME days ahead of me.

I mean, there's plenty to do, but I'm the one in charge of the schedule for a while, damn it to hell.

DR Elmore:

The only response I can come up with right now is:  holy shit.

What do these people think, anyway? -- that key changes grow on trees?   :)

Back from a lovely dinner with Kay and Michael, and then we sat together and watched Dial 'M'.  We had about half a house and they were a great, great audience.  The play got more laughs tonight than ever, because the actors with those laughs timed them just right - and the laughs really help the play.  The running time is always the same - WITH the two intermission it's 119 minutes.  It literally never varies by more than a few seconds.  Kay loved it, as did Michael, and even I liked it tonight because everyone was on their A game, which of course is what it should always be but sometimes isn't.
