My fellow pianist (female, so not an actual fellow) and I just had our first read-through of I Do! I Do!, and damn, this is fun. It's every bit as satisfying as rehearsing the typical small band for a show, if not more so. It's more like chamber music, and it's great having two of the identical keyboard running through one nice amp.
I really like the duo-piano arrangement -- except in the places I don't, where some things are just blatantly wrong. Or where they're not wrong, but they're not very right either because they don't utilize the two players for best effect, or for logic and ease in execution. In some of those instances, the folks on BK's recording must not have liked it either, and we're going to make some of the same or similar corrections.
Another session tomorrow morning, then about a week and a half break before we're back together again and the hell breaks loose because we have to throw together "Nobody's Perfect" for a "cocktails and cabaret" fundraiser type of thing.
