Are you going to try it and compare them?

I don't know.  I don't have the French dressing (which brand would be best?) or the onion.  But, there are a LOT of videos on YouTube with recipes and they all seem quite different.  Who knows which is the "real" recipe??

;)

I got both sauces - the tartar sauce isn't as good as the real thing, although maybe it tastes better when it's actually on the fish.

I came across this article from 2010, History of the Big Mac, which says about halfway down:

Quote
And that famous “special sauce?”  While Delligatti [the Big Mac’s creator] maintains total secrecy about its contents, it’s one of the more widely sought-after and readily-available clone recipes out there.  There are slight variations depending on the source, but this one purportedly comes from a 1969 McDonald’s Manager’s Handbook.  It was to be prepared only in an emergency, when the kitchen ran out of the pre-made stuff:

McDonald’s Big Mac Sauce (makes 1 cup)

1/4 cup Miracle Whip

1/4 cup mayonnaise

3 Tbsp French dressing

1/2 Tbsp sweet pickle relish

1-1/2 Tbsp dill pickle relish

1 tsp sugar

1 tsp dried minced onion

1 tsp white vinegar

1 tsp ketchup

1/8 tsp salt

Mix all ingredients, blend well.  Microwave for 25 seconds and stir.  Cover and chill for 1 hour.

But THIS VIDEO from McDonald's executive chef has this list of ingredients (but no amounts):

mayonnaise
sweet pickle relish
yellow mustard
white wine vinegar
garlic powder
onion powder
paprika

It pays to keep checking for car rental rates.  When I first checked Costco's travel website, the charge was about $250 for 4 days.  It went down to about $160 a few days ago.  I just checked again and it's $122!

Thursday morning greetings...

Dear DRs, my mother passed away at 12:43 this morning after about 15 hours in the care of Hospice.  At 98 and 2/3 she was beyond ready.

Ginny, I'm so sorry.  My condolences to you and your family. :(

Thank you, DR George.

We had to pull of the freeway as a tire blew. We went over a rock or piece of metal and the tire is shredded. We are waiting, in the heat, for road service. If only we could have driven a few more miles to the tire shop in Ashland.

Yikes, DR Jane, I'm glad you're OK!

Thoughts of comfort to DR GINNY.

Another vote for you to go as planned.

Thank you, DR JRand.  I have had a grueling 48 hours and I'm really looking to a day off.

Yes, Ginny. Go on your trip. Take some time for yourself. There's plenty of time to deal with the reality of things.

We've dealt with quite a bit of the reality today:

Berenice Ruth (Tucker) Ellis

We also spent a couple of hours in Mom's room.  I cleared out most everything I wanted and my sister and her husband will continue tomorrow.  My sister is one of the most insistent that I go to my classes tomorrow.

Well, it's time for me to leave work.  I'm meeting my friend Margo and we're going to Mercato Ristorante in downtown Olympia.  We went there a couple of weeks ago and Margo wanted to go back, so we are. :)

Until later.

Jane, sorry to hear about your travel mishap, but it does sound like it's working itself out, frustrating as it may be.

Vibes the rest of the trip goes very smoothly.

Thank you, DR Jeanne.  She selected that photo herself for us to use when the time came.  It was taken in Alaska.
