PBS is again on its every whim schedule of begging for money. So,  there's nothing on but the crap they roll out thinking it will entice viewers. I am watching the Kirk Douglas-Burt Lancaster film of Shaw's The Devil's Disciple, which I've not seen in 40 years or more.

That sounds like fun.

Went to see Lady Macbeth, a wonderful film version of Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk. I don't know the opera also based on the book but I want to see it now.

The opera has wonderful moments.  I saw the Met production about 10 years ago which surprised me with its nudity from the male cast.  I guess it was to point up her repressed desires.  or the director's.

Try one of these on video.  I prefer the Weigl film.

        Hello! Is this Gordon's Pizza?

        No sir, it's Google Pizza.
I must have dialed a wrong number. Sorry.
No sir, Google bought Gordon’s Pizza last month.
OK. I would like to order a pizza.
Do you want your usual, sir?
     My usual? You know me?
According to our caller ID data sheet, the last 12 times you called you ordered an extra-large pizza with three cheeses, sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms and meat balls on a thick crust.
     OK! That’s what I want …
May I suggest that this time you order a pizza with ricotta, arugula, sun-dried tomatoes and olives on a whole wheat gluten free thin crust?
    What? I detest vegetables.
Your cholesterol is not good, sir.
How the hell do you know?
Well, we cross-referenced your home phone number with your medical records. We have the result of your blood tests for the last 7 years.
Okay, but I do not want your rotten vegetable pizza! I already take medication for my cholesterol.

Excuse me sir, but you have not taken your medication regularly. According to our database, you only purchased a box of 30 cholesterol tablets once, at Drugsale Network, 4 months ago.
I bought more from another drugstore.
That doesn’t show on your credit card statement.
     I paid in cash.
But you did not withdraw enough cash according to your bank statement.
I have other sources of cash.
That doesn’t show on your last tax return unless you bought them using an undeclared income source, which is against the law.
     WHAT THE HELL?
I'm sorry, sir, we use such information only with the sole intention of helping you.
Enough already! I'm sick to death of Google, Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp and all the others. I'm going to an island without internet, cable TV, where there is no cell phone service and no one to watch me or spy on me.
I understand sir, but you need to renew your passport first. It expired 6 weeks ago.

It was.  I'm not a big Lancaster fan, but he comes into the role when he ceases to be a pious prig. I loved Douglas, who as the devil gets the best lines, and Olivier, who has some good lines and funny scenes.

Ha, Vixmom.

Thanks for the recommendations, Elmore. I'll need to wait until I'm home.

Back from the closing of Dial 'M' for Murder.  I know several of the actors are really going to miss this show, and those several actors are really kind of irritated that they didn't extend us - a bad decision, as we would have continued to do well for the next three weeks.  There were only four empty seats at our final show.  They did make some decent dough, so that's good.  I was told the show went well (I arrived ten minutes before the end), and the audience seemed very happy.  One audience member who knew who I was told me he'd just listened to the Tom Sawyer commentary and had enjoyed it very much.

Doug and I went to Mucho Mas for dinner and a little meeting - we had to postpone our Genghis Cohen visit for a couple of weeks.

BK - Is there any chance the play will be up for awards when theatre awards season rolls around in L.A.?

And now, I'm off to see tonight's episode of "Game of Thrones," outside, projected on a workshop building with friends.

Be back later.

Finished with my viewing.  One rather interesting but not successful show, and one really good episode.
