Drying-out vibes to all those in Harvey's path.

After dreaming that Eddie Murphy killed me two nights ago, I thought I'd reached the outa-the-ballpark zone, but I swear last night I dreamed I was a squirrel and my best friend was a bat.

Seriously.

I got a VERY big laugh out of this. Larry wins the contest for most colorful dreams.

Again.

But it was clear and not too sunny until I hit West, Texas. I have to stop there for poppyseed kolaches either coming or going.

I've never heard of kolaches, but my mother was from West, Texas. It was a Czech community then, and I believe it still is.

The photos from Houston and the coast are just heartbreaking.

Yes, they are. Several of the news reports have compared Harvey to other storms, but no one's mentioned Katrina. Is Katrina no longer talked about?

Kolaches are a Czech treat. They're kinda like jelly donuts in that they're yeasty, but they often various types of flavors added. Most of the sweet ones are like a filled cup with something like fruit or cream cheese. The savories more often feature dough wrapped around something, like my favorite, jalapeno-cheddar sausages.

I always get three cherry kolaches, three poppy seed and one sausage.

And now I'm watching a Jane Powell flick called The Girl Most Likely with a Hugh Martin/Ralph Blane score. Gower Champion did the dances and Stanley Donen produced.

My late friend, Stanley Rubin, produced that one.

It's actually fairly charming. The dancing is really good and it would all be considered insensitive or politically incorrect these days.

I saw it so long ago,I don't remember it very well.

Why would it be politically incorrect?

That doesn't sound like Stanley.

One song is an American Indian fantasy with a lot of white people saying ug. It's a bit like Peter Pan's Ug-a-wug-a-wig-wam, which may be my favorite song in that score.

Another is a song in Tijuana and the lyrics are condescending without being too funny.

I saw a couple of stories asking if Harvey's worse than Sandy or Katrina. I think it's too early to tell.

The rains have stopped, the winds have died down. So, of course, the weathermen are talking about flash floods and thunderstorms throughout the night.

Hi John.  I don't know how you do that long drive in one day, especially in bad weather.  You must have been relieved to arrive home.

I doubt I'd be able to do this with anyone else in the car. I just stop for gas and a bathroom break, then back in the car. Just get it over.

A, as in a single, bathroom break  :o

Three, actually. (I had to get kolaches in West, Texas, after the bathroom break. It was all in the same place.)

Three, still pretty good.  With only one I thought you had superhuman abilities  ;)

Usually I think if I talked about my dreams I am in the running, but this one tops them all ;D

Finished with my viewing, ate a nice Wacky Noodles with chicken, did a little work but not much, listened to some SACDs, and then the rest of the Strauss, Richard set.
