Voldemort is basically a middle school girl: he has a locket, a diary, a tiara, a ring, and is completely obsessed with a teenage boy.

I miss having a cat.

Unfortunately, my dog will not allow any other animal into his house.

Tonight, in 1935, "Jubilee," the Cole Porter-Moss Hart musical, opened on Broadway. The original orchestrations and scores have disappeared, and I was fortunate to be asked to reconstruct and orchestrate the show for performances at Town Hall, March 1-2, 1986. Since then, it has been performed in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Carnegie Hall, Indiana University Opera Theatre, and London.

My absolute favorite musical. Begin the Beguine, Just One of Those Things and Why Shouldn't I? are among its riches, but I also love the dizzy daffiness of The Kling-Kling Bird in the Divi-Divi Tree, Me and Marie and When Love Comes Your Way. Each Cole Porter song seems better than the last. Just a Picture of Me Without You, What a Nice Municipal Park, great joys all.

I spent a couple of years in high school learning the score from Cole Porter's private recordings of the songs. Larry's orchestrations are delicious.

Watching episode two of the Durrells. Great stuff. Just wish there were more than six episodes. I know I'm going to want more.

And I'll want to read the books, of course.

There is a baseboard heater right there in the hall.  Like a lot of old people, he doesn't like the cold.

I had a mediocre bacon cheeseburger, a few onion rings, and some salad for my meal o' the day.

Neve has discovered the heater down in my living room.  Everytime she hears that it's on, she lays down in front if it, too.
