Julie Andrews - Broadway's Fair Julie/Heartrending Ballads & Raucous Ditties

DRD-I-T, when "Don't Go In The Lion's Cage Tonight" was on LP, it was my favorite Julie Andrews album.  I bet she never thought when she recorded "Burlington Bertie" she never knew she'd sing it in STAR! around 4 years later! Tony walton and I had a great discussion about the recording and its wonderful arranger when I was doing CHARLEY?, and we wanted to get some of that album's music hall sound into the show.

I'm trying to catch up on the posts.

I watched "Medium" last night and I enjoyed it.  I'd never seen or heard of the actor who plays her husband.  I like the idea that he doesn't try to talk her out of using her "gift."  He seems to be all for it.  I wonder if the real woman's husband was that supportive.  I do, however, agree with Vixmom's criticisms.  I didn't understand why she stepped onto the steps leading out of the plane and then just stopped.  And then they yelled at each other.  That made no sense.  But that didn't stop me from enjoying the overall show. :)

As for the official Topic of the Day, here are some of the CDs that I listen to the most (I could think of 11, but there are more):

City of Angels (original Broadway cast)
Extensions by The Manhattan Transfer
Follies (the original Broadway cast recording)
Merrily We Roll Along (I prefer the original Broadway cast, with the York version produced by our very own BK a very close second)
The Mystery of Edwin Drood (original Broadway cast)
The Songs from Ragtime [I love the original Broadway cast (and its completeness), but for a couple of songs, I like the versions on this CD better]
Short Stories by Janis Siegel and Fred Hersch
The Spitfire Grill (original cast with Liz Callaway)
The Stephen Sondheim Album (produced by our very own BK)
Sweeney Todd (original Broadway cast)
Unsung Sondheim (again, produced by our very own BK)

Hello all.  Ozderek here.  My first posting ..... (be afraid, be VERY afraid..!)  :

my 10 most played (soundtrack) cd's .... (in no particular order)

- Nine
- Kristina Fran Duvemala

Welcome Ozderek!  I forgot about both of these.  I have to add Nine to my list, especially since they released the COMPLETE 2-CD original Broadway cast recording.  I bought Kristina Fran Duvemala several years ago and, even though I don't understand a word of it, I love the music.  Even though I never get tired of listening to it (when I do listen to it), I haven't listened to it very much, so it can't be added to my list. ::)

DR Panni - Thank you for the progress reports today on bk's conversion to the Mac.  Also, thanks yesterday for the Pier 1 tip as a source for my CD tower.  There's a Pier 1 on my way to work and I hope to have time to stop there tomorrow.

Since we're talking about CD's today, do any other DR's have ideas for where I might find a storage tower that holds a lot of CD's, but doesn't take up much floor space?

Thank you JMK I will pass along your message.

Michael Shayne thank you.  How did you fare at your doctor’s appointment?

Panni-LOL, it did take my mind off of things for awhile, but boy was it hard to come home.  It turned out to be a very minor thing, so minor it is embarrassing.  The good news is it was so minor.

WELCOME OZDEREK!  It is very nice to meet you.

SWW, George, Danise TCB, thank you.

DRLaura come visit, we have snow.

Charles Pogue, you mentioned Leslie "Hutch" Hutchinson earlier. This Friday on BBC Radio 2 Desmond Carrington will be doing a show featuring Hutch. It's on live at 2pm NY time. I'll post more information in tomorrow's notes when I can get to the site more easily.

Mr. Mac Man has left the home environment and I'm all set up.  It ran so late that he didn't have time to take me through some stuff, but I already love my new Powerbook.  I have already imported photos, resized photos, and imported music into iTunes and burned a CD for dear reader Pogue.  And now for a test with a resized photograph: Our newly very own Kevin Spirtas, just after we rehearsed and were leaving the studio.

Critic's Choice has a good selection, though they're a bit on the pricey side.  The catalog I just got has a really nice "CD armoire" that looks relatively small, but opens up, pantry-style to hold over 800 CDs.
