TOD:

I don't fry foods, but I eat them. Recently had fried calamari and artichoke hearts, both of which were good.

I really like deep-fried zucchini blossoms stuffed with pork or shrimp, fried chicken, schnitzel, fried oysters, really crunchy fried shrimp, fried eggs over hard, and, like ChasSmith, fried pickles and fried green tomatoes.

I don't like fried desserts that don't need to be fried, such as fried ice cream or fried cheesecake.

I slept late, despite Annabelle's attempts to force me out of bed.  Then, I had to clean the litter box, feed the birds, feed the cat, and here I am.

DR Laura, yesterday I pulled out the pet carrier in which I brought Annabelle home, printed out a list of cats on the adoption list for Manhattan Animal Care Center on East 110th, and ai,ed to be there by 10 when they open today.  Well, I'm still vacillating.  I need to decide if I really want another cat or if I like the ida of shopping for one.  At 2:00 today there's an adoption event at Petco, so I may go up and look around.  And, again, I may go to MACC tomorrow, since many folk will be occupied with the Marathon.

I have to make a pecan pie for an early Thanksgiving dinner with friends. I don't think I've ever made one, though I have made pecan cobbler for the barbecue book.

Obviously, I have hundreds of recipes, as this is in almost every Texas cookbook ever printed. Still, there are questions, as no two recipes is quite alike.

I don't know whether to go with light or dark corn syrup.

I like the epicurious.com recipe, because it has 2 cups of pecans in it (more than the others). But I don't know if I want orange zest in the mix or not.

There's another question: Should I coarsely chop the pecans or use only pecan halves?

The sad thing about the Cillaliz situation is, we behaved very badly to each other, and we are poles apart politically, which I will never fathom, since I thought she was more liberal than she turned out to be.  I will never know what her thoughts are on the complete nincompoop she supported for president at this point, but I think she's so stubborn that she'd nevern acknowledge a thought that she might have been wrong.

Still, there are days I miss her, and there are days I wish she were here to post about Callie and Boo.

My mother's wonderful pecan pie used halves.  She made the best pastry crust I have ever encountered

I bought a new hat for the winter that is like the one DR ELMORE is wearing in his avatar....I shall post photographic evidence at some point.

YESTERDAY for some reason, I was exhausted and hardly moved from my lying down spot on the bed.   I am a bit more lively today.

I watched the first act of PRESENT LAUGHTER.....almost didn't make it through the first several minutes because of the horrible, incompetent Tedra Millan as Daphne.....

I was sort of dreading sitting through the awful Cobie Smulders anyway, so I turned it off.....

Everyone else I saw was great!  I like the director's name Moritz von Stuelpnagel - is that a real person or a nom de plume?

I fell asleep while reading Murder on the Orient Express.  Now that I am awake again I should return to it.

Do you plan to see the new film version with Kenneth Brannagh directing and playing Hercule Poirot.

I won't be rushing to see it.  The only ebook from the library has a photo from the new film on the cover.  I suppose I have the movie to thank for my free copy.

DR Jrand, I think everything finally caught up with you yesterday and you needed a good rest.

I look forward to seeing your photo in the new hat.

I lost the collar war.  Annabelle has a fit every time I put it on her, and I cannot bear to watch her try to get out of it.

In my small bachelorette apartment I only had 1 cat which increased to 3 cats once I was in my 1 bedroom apartment.  In our second 2 bedroom apartment we added our first dog.  I think the highest number of various pets we had at one time was 7.

When were were finally down to a reasonable 1 dog and 1 cat, both devoted to each other, I stupidly added 3 more cats ;D

Cilla only had 3 cats, though at some time in the future she might have to take her parents cats and will match my top number of 4.

I cannot image DR Elmore having more than 2 cats at once.

DR Laura, excluding your feral cats and fosters, what is the highest number you have had at one time?
