I have had rehearsals as described in the notes....it is most frustrating and infuriating.....I hate being held captive by someone just because they have skills - and they didn't do what they said they would....they ALWAYS turn it around on YOU.

Of course some of them want you to say:  "Get out" so that they can leave the project.....I just say...."Okay, do it now....we'll ALL wait  on you....."

I am a great helicopter.

I'm starting to feel like the spectators of the tennis match in Strangers on a Train, watching BK's rehearsal and moving progress on one side of the court, and DR Elmore's animal tamer adventures on the other.

Vixmom, that is a great picture, and if you don't mind -- not that you really have a choice in the matter :) -- I really must share it with housemate Nathan who is quite the DR. WHO aficionado.

Which reminds me:  are you aware of a DR. WHO-themed restaurant up here, I think it's in or near Newburgh, NY?

For all I know, there are any number of such things by now, but I know Nathan was talking about getting over there to try this one.

I'm so happy that today is a ME day.  Not that there aren't a hundred things I should already be doing with it.  But...no rehearsal!  :)  Which can be so nice once in a while.  Even better, I'm excused from tomorrow evening's rehearsal because they're going to work blocking, blocking, and more blocking, and can do without the Piano Man.

One thing I "need" to do, maybe today or tomorrow, is get my arse to a Barnes and Noble and scarf up some Criterion product.  This is an historical first, me not getting there within a day or two of the start of the sale.  Fortunately, when this kind of thing runs all month, one has a little leeway.  And I do need me my leeway.

I've been to 72nd Street to refill my Metrocard and I'm on my MacBook while I wait for the Big Mac to upgrade.  I released Annabelle from her carrier when I returned, and she jumped all over Thatch's while they spit and hissed until I threw her out of the bathroom.  I pet Thatch and fed him from my hand and got him purring, put Annabelle back into her carrier, left her in the bathroom, and carried Thatch's carrier into the big room.  I gave him some food and all is quiet for now.

Hey, kids!  It's time for ..... Photographic Evidence.

During a break I was about to ask DR Elmore and his adopted son to look up and smile for a quick one, but I felt these would look nice and natural (always my preference), so here they are:

When I brought my coffee to the computer, I could see him outside the shelf at the plate.  when I approached, he drew back but he took some more food off my finger.  As he ate from the plate I petted him until I got in a good position to gran and I did.

He's now in the bathroom inside his carrier next to Annabelle in hers.  So far, all is quiet.  I will go about my chores - litter boxes, sweeping up, cleaning the stove - before I can get back to my London work.  I'm growing things on that stove top I never want to know.

Good luck!

Thatch and Annabelle vibes for Elmore.  Thatch just may not have been the right kitty but it seems Annabelle is open to having a friend.  Perhaps an even younger kitten is needed one that is only a few weeks old and ready to be mothered

I've been wishing I'd adopted an older kitten too large to fit under a bookshelf no more than three inches high!
Whoever invented clumping kitty litter is my hero.  And these sifting scoops are a godsend.

We had a kitten that did not like to be held in our arms.  I carried her around in a basket, took her for drives and even to show and tell for Craig in 2nd grade.  She slept with us, snuggled, sat on our laps, anything but carried in our arms for any length of time.

I mean this not as a political comment, but a comment on the media in short-attention-span 2017:

I feel so troubled that both the horrible mass murder in the church not too far from San Antonio, Texas on Nov. 5, as well as the deadly attack in New York City on Oct. 31, have pretty much disappeared so quickly from the TV news cycle.

On a much lighter note,  Justin Timberlake called Amy Adams (BK's one-time colleague) a monster -

a "karaoke monster," he goes on to explain.

Some cats can't get enough holding; others are skittish about it for pretty much all time, and there's no telling what might have happened to make them that way.

Our lovely little Kali, who died almost two years ago, was like that.  She loved us, and just about everyone else she met, but when it came to being picked up and held, you did well if you had her for 30 seconds or longer.  Picking her up to carry her someplace was fine.  But there was very little "just holding her".  It wasn't a fear issue -- put her down, and she'd stay right there to be petted till the cows came home.  But she never liked being confined in people's hands for long.

DR Elmore's descriptions of Thatch reminded me exactly of that

Agree.  And of course the looming issues surrounding those events are likewise absent.

Another pitcher, this one showing Rob Berman running through the funeral scene music with bagpiper extraordinaire Howard Heller and the percussionists.

I'm up - have been up since eight, really.  Cleaned out the trunk of my car so I could get more stuff in.  Of course the helper and the helpers who were supposed to be here at nine are not here yet, which means I could have slept a little longer.

That's the arranger of this number, aka Adopted Son, looking on.

Some of these can be clicked to enlarge a little, some not.  Go figure.

Must run off and do some things, so more later.

Also, DR Elmore -- let me know of anything you feel shouldn't be posted, and I'll remove it.

Workers and helpers are here and doing the garage first.  But I've told them that all sofas and tables need to go in the second run.
