Well, if I am going to read all about BK's big moving day today, I had better get lots of sleep.  Good night, George.

Today, I need to help my sister (yet again), then we'll go to our parents' house for dinner.  So, now I'm off to bed.

Have a good day, all!

I am currently leading the pack for best director - now is the time for you to ask 10,000 of your nearest and dearest friends to go vote for me! :)  Even a few would be helpful, oh, yes, even a few would be helpful.

Today is the last day of our convention we've been having a great time.   It's so nice it's being held at a hotel that's about 10 -15 minutes from our home

Vixdad is fighting a cold so we have been traveling separately .  Last night he was tired and ready for bed at 7 but I stayed until past 11 to watch some videos and the costume contest and a magician .   I poked my head into the dance party but deluded it was time to go

Last night, all my best laid plans went completely to hell.  My goal was to lure Thatch out after I was in bed, use Annabelle to track him, and get him into a carrier.  I pulled out Annabelle's carrier, so she could play in it since I want her to be comfortable with it for her first trip to the vet.  I also prepared Thatch's carrier, so that I could just pop him into it when I caught him.

Annabelle was sleeping in her carrier when I turned off the lights at 9:30.  I slept soundly until 2:45, when he and Annabelle got into it.  He ran back to his original bookshelf, so that was a dud.

Thatch and Annabelle vibes for Elmore.  Thatch just may not have been the right kitty but it seems Annabelle is open to having a friend.  Perhaps an even younger kitten is needed one that is only a few weeks old and ready to be mothered

This morning, I fed Annabelle and put her in the bathroom.  Like an old pedophile with candy, I lured Thatch with some new kitten food from Wellness.  I set the plate down, put some of the sauce on a finger and placed my hand under the shelf.  He licked the food, and I did this three or four more times.  Then I set the plate where he had to come out for it and made the bed and coffee.

When I brought my coffee to the computer, I could see him outside the shelf at the plate.  when I approached, he drew back but he took some more food off my finger.  As he ate from the plate I petted him until I got in a good position to gran and I did.

He's now in the bathroom inside his carrier next to Annabelle in hers.  So far, all is quiet.  I will go about my chores - litter boxes, sweeping up, cleaning the stove - before I can get back to my London work.  I'm growing things on that stove top I never want to know.

DR Amy, thanks for your thoughts.  I had read everything on bringing in a new cat and with all good intentions managed to botch everything.  I feel so sorry for that poor kitten because everything awful happening to him lies at my feet.  The notion of using the pet carrier had never occurred to me until my friend's suggestion last night.

If I can resolve this so that Thatch can happily live with us, I will be in heaven.

DR Laura, I'm glad to hear that you think the problem is Annabelle and not Thatch.  Thatch needs more socializing and I fear he thinks he's in the House from Hell.

Thatch was an abandoned baby found living on a roof top.  His adoption papers say he was four months old, but the people I spoke to when I applied to adopt him said he was 2-3 months.  He's a very docile and sweet kitty, and I hate putting him through hell. He still has the stitches from being neutered last week.

I've been wishing I'd adopted an older kitten too large to fit under a bookshelf no more than three inches high!

Annabelle wants out of her carrier, Thatch is non-committal.  I put a handful of dry purina kitty food in each carrier.  While I had Thatch's carrier open, I reached in a petted him.  He was very calm, not at all panicky as he gets when I try to pick him up.
