BK:  Was there ever any followup communication with the Levi Strauss people, and do you know if anyone was going to be attending?

I have a cold, Annabelle has a cold, and Thatch seems fine.  He ate very well this morning, and last night he drank his tuna water alon with all of his regular water.  Annabelle eats nothing, and her tuna water went untouched.  The vet opens at 8:30 and I will see if there are any morning cancellations for today or tomorrow.

She stayed very close to me all night.  Usually, she only crawls in with me when the temperature drops around 3:00 in the morning.  She's sneezing, coughing, her mews sound an octave lower and I can hear a rattle in her breathing.

Thatch is a bundle of energy this morning, playing with his toys and trying to get Annabelle's attention.  I hope he stays well.

And now to the good news: a successful, big opening night for LEVI!  I am not surprised since I expected nothing less. It sounds wonderful, and I hope it results in good things for all involved.

I didn't know who were the writers for "Tall Paul" or "Let's Get together" but I think those wwew the first Sherman Brothers songs I knew.  Then came Mary Poppins and I never forgot their names again.

TOD: I think it was the Mary Poppins Marni Nixon cover album that really made me aware of the Sherman Brothers.

TOD

The first movie in which I enjoyed their songs was THE PARENT TRAP, but I had no knowledge of the songwriters.  It was MARY POPPINS -- seeing the film a few times on its original release, wearing out the soundtrack LP, and that unique (for its time) "complete musical score" book of the songs -- that brought the Sherman Brothers home for me.  And it kills me that I lost track of my own copy of that book years ago.  I have another one I found secondhand, but it just ain't the same.

DR Elmore, I hope you can get Annabelle in to see someone this morning.

Sounds like a good shot of antibiotics is called for.  (Or something.  I am not a vet, nor do I imitate one at parties.)

It's too late for this visit, and I know you have vets lined up anyway, but I've asked some cat loving NYC friends for any top-notch vet recommendations they might have, for possible future use.

I was taken to Mary Poppins at the long gone Westmount Cinema (later the Claremont) when I was 5. Then the soundtrack LP.

TOD:

I was 3 when I was taken to Mary Poppis. It changed my life.

I learned all of the songs, which sounds strange to have a kid singing about carving his niche in the edifice of time. The vocabulary expansion was immense. And my sister Annaliese taught me how to spell supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.

I wanted an umbrella for Christmas so that I, too, could fly away (same reason I wanted one of those adorable winged monkeys in The Wizard of Oz). I actually got Into an argument with Santa, who wanted to give me a football. I don’t think I ever went back to Santa after that.

Full day today. Hours of dancing, then a birthday party for my friend Gail.

Latest news in the whirlwind musical life of Yrs Truly:  First gig scheduled for 2018 is programming and playing the synth book for a one-week production of a show in which some people enter a forest.  Interestingly enough (or not), 'twill be my first time to actually play said show.

It's at a Catholic high school in New Haven.  West Haven, actually, if the truth must be known.  And it must, it must.  Interesting about the schools up here.  They're all pretty good venues for short term musical gigs, they have budgets and pay as well as or better than some other organizations, every musician I know has a school or two up his sleeve, and the schools are contracting earlier and earlier each year for the musicians they want to play in their shows.  Cutthroat, man.  This one's good for me because one of their regular people has a conflict so it gets me in the door in a region that's pretty lucrative and where a lot of good people play.
