Well, another inch (yes, INCH) of snow to try to clean up.  What a pain in the ASS week it’s been in that regard.

Today we purchased t-shirts.  Mine is green with a a dark green and black design of an elephant.  I am wearing it now with a dark green elephant necklace (can't remember what it is made of) — it belonged to my mother.

I managed to find a large children's size.  I gambled that it would fit and not be too short.  It just fits and I like it much better than the oversized adult shirts.   With luck it won't shrink.

At least it’s a ME day till show time tonight.  Kristi and Nathan are going - their first time to see this, so that will be good.  Too bad it’s our one night without a bass player.  Last night’s sub was great, but literally no one was available tonight.  Saturday before Christmas week, parties and shows everywhere, everyone’s booked.

Just play it.  It’ll be a piano and drums thing - not piano, bass and drums.

Last night’s guy asked me if I was going to split the keyboard and “play the bass” myself.  Oddly, I hadn’t even thought of that, and it’s not a horrible idea.  But not for this show, and certainly not without a lot of mental rearranging and practice.  The full two-handed piano sound is much more important than attempting that.

Saturday morning greetings!  It's kind of a slow morning here - I slept late (for me) and Richard slept even later.  I have butter softening so I can make gingerbread dough this afternoon.

Perhaps a second keyboard player could play the bass part?

At any rate, break a leg tonight!

Annabelle was fired from another job today.  She insisted on playing Nurse while I took care of Thatch's eyes.  They're open but the eyelids are still caking up with gunky discharge.  I need to wash all that off before I can apply the Erythromycin salve.

Well, my nurse was way too busy playing with the clean cotton balls to assist me.  After the last cotton ball I laid out ended up in the bathtub, I sacked her and banished her from the operating room bathroom.  The role of Nurse Nellie Forbush will not be played by Miss Annabelle this afternoon.

DR Chas, good luck without the bass player.  It sounds like you will be fine, but then I do not know much about these things.

We had an early dinner tonight followed by a brisk walk around the deck while the ship left port.  Now we are sitting at the back of the ship watching the tugboat, in the wake, escorting us out while an incredible orange/red sun is slowly dropping below the clouds.

The little tug boat in our wake sure is taking a beating.  I am glad not to be in it bouncing around.  I am sure I would be sick ;D

The little tug boat has picked up speed and is so close to the ship we have to stand at the railing to see it.  I went to look and it is now working to pass us.  We must almost be at the 7 mile limit before it turns around and passes us.

DR TCB is right - it is not unusual for someone coming to auditions at our theatre to write down they are auditioning for the lead.  I always put "Will you accept another role?  YES NO".  They circle YES, but if you offer them something else, suddenly they don't want to waste their time NOT doing a leading role.

These are usually people who are lucky to be in the ensemble....and these are also the people who complain on FaceBook and to their friends, that the same people are always cast in the leads....

Well, they come to auditions, they most likely have spent their time in the ensemble and smaller roles, AND they can be trusted to come to rehearsal and learn their music and lines....take a smaller role and prove that you can do those things and see what happens.

I always cast people who have been in smaller roles or the chorus as new leads rather than people I don't know.  I also look on the audition sheets for people who have LOTS of shows....but all of them are at DIFFERENT theatres....why no where more than once?  I wonder.......

TOD:

Titanic (1953) and (1997) with strong reservations.....I wish the earlier version had the later versions technical advantage.  I don't like A NIGHT TO REMEMBER because most of the characters are ciphers, and you don't really get to know enough about them to care....

Several films about 9/11 including UNITED 93 and WORLD TRADE CENTER.

PEARL HARBOR

I shall probably have some more as the world turns.....

I don't think it does anyone any good except the billionaires who bribed the GOP bigwigs to sponsor it.

ROTFLMAO!

I think she's seen too many idiots on TV believing they can become instant stars that she thinks she's ready for the Big Time.  She knows I support her ambitions, but I refuse to become a Stage Mother.

Plumber is coming before ten and Gran't next door so he can supervise.  Toilet did flush finally just before I went to bed and is working now, but something was clearly wrong.
