A very nice tribute, BK.  I love listening to Guy Haines.

A big chunk of the second act of Hello, Dolly! is at the Harmonious Gardens.

BK, the Harvey Schmidt memories were glorious.  When I worked on MIRETTE with Harvey and Tom at Goodspeed, we talked about you one night over dinner.  He loved you.  He said "I wish I'd known him when I was in grade school.  We would have been best friends for life and it seems like we've been friends for life.

Whenever I called Harvey in Texas, I always got his answering machine, so we usually communicated via Dan Shaheen. When I think of Harvey, I hear is his wonderful drawl on the name Mary, when he told me stories of doing I DO I DO.

The weather outside looks frightful, but around 9:00 I will board a bus and head down to 27th Street, sign my tax forms and pay my accountant.

Once I'm back, I have work on the desk and a lot of house cleaning.

Annabelle's breathing this morning is labored and every exhalation sounds like a fart  This is not good.  I need my tax return to pay for her dental work, among other things, but I don;t know how to deal with her current breathing issues.  I sent her vet an email first thig this morning.

Great public relations this morning for McDonald's restaurants.  I guess if you're homeless, you can't eat there...even if you pay for it.

Very sad.

And March does indeed come in like a lion, with a great storm going on out there, and the passing of a beloved giant.

BEAUTIFUL remembrance in the notes today, BK.

That is some great reading, and I will be revisiting it through the next couple of days.  This morning I'm going to put it into a Word doc to send to my friend, the director of our I Do! I Do!, because he's not a blog reader or even a Facebook reader but he will greatly appreciate this history and the beautifully composed memories.

Last night I posted about seeing Cinema Paradiso.  Here is the fairly unique venue:  http://cinematreasures.org/theaters/3311

It's a lovely little movie theater that serves a number of purposes in the town hall, but they've protected its movie showing status for decades and kept the admission price at $2 for years, and now $3.  They have a small concession stand, but the pre-show screen blurb invites you to bring your own snacks if you like.  (That THUD you heard is the sound of hundreds of movie theater chain execs fainting dead away.)

After moving here  in 1989 I went to a number of second-run films there, and it was always a pleasure, especially sitting in the balcony.  Sadly, they have now closed the balcony off, and the fare, as I said, is mostly family and kids oriented, nothing at all like before.  But the place retains a lovely theater ambiance and they're attentive to quality, so when they show something you want to see it's worth driving a few extra miles for it.

The one photo posted there is nothing (and I see it's duplicated several times in the actual photo section...WTF?).  I shall go early next time and remedy that, as I usually have a way with theater photos.

Very this was a very nice eulogy for Harvey Schmidt.

I had hope that you'd devote an entire album to lost songs to 110. Legend was that they wrote over 100 songs that never made it into the show.

DR elmore sez:

I think DRs vixmom and ChasSmith will have a good time at Subways Are For Sleeping this weekend.  There are some book issues, and I wish I liked more that 50-75% of the score. The cast is game and good, and David Hancock Turner's piano work is really lovely.  I had a very good time.

So happy to hear that report.  REALLY looking forward to it now!

If'n y'all do go back, I'd sure like to try to join this time.
